Had an absolutely wonderful dining experience here! The atmosphere was warm and welcoming from the moment we walked in. Our server was attentive and knowledgeable about the menu, offering great recommendations. The food was exceptional - fresh ingredients, perfectly seasoned, and beautifully presented. Every dish we tried was bursting with flavor. The portions were generous and well worth the price. The restaurant was clean and well-maintained, and despite being busy, we didn't feel rushed. The dessert was the perfect ending to our meal. We'll definitely be returning soon and would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great meal and excellent service. Five stars!

We had an amazing night dinning here. There was a great selection of creative dishes but they also have classic ones which tasted fantastic as well. I especially liked the aged steak, it had great texture and great flavours. The balance between fat and meat was great, the mix of chewiness and softness was great as well and the pepper sauce that came with the steak complemented it quite nicely. The duck was pretty delicious too! The crispy skin paired so well with the tender meat and the flavours were nice as well. The service on the other hand varies quite a lot. We had a warm welcome initially from the waitresses and then some waiters were quite clumsy and rough which made it a bit less enjoyable. The contrast was too big not too notice. The atmosphere itself was great. There were so many customers that were enjoying the food, the vibe was just great. I do feel like the tables are a bit small making it feel a bit cramped but it was still quite nice.

Last night on Valentine’s day was my first experience in Monarque restaurant.
The restaurant has a very nice atmosphere.
Our waitress was so nice and helpful.
We asked for a Medium cook for our steak; however, it was not cooked well (to my taste at least). I found the crust of our steak especially on the sides to be burnt. I’ve had better quality of steak with more reasonable prices in many other restaurants.
I mentioned this to the manager and she had a nice behaviour towards my comment which I truly appreciated.
Overall, I found the restaurant to be a nice spot with nice staff, but it wasn’t worth the price at least to me ($520 for two!!).

We visited for the Valentine’s Day fixed-price menu and unfortunately had one of the worst dining experiences we’ve had. Maybe if you go there for normal dinner it would be good, but this is the first time I had such a bad experience to the point of leaving the restaurant feeling unwell.
To start with the positives: the meats and fish were actually cooked very well. The veal was perfectly tender, and the fish was flaky without being overcooked. The servers were also attentive — our water was always refilled promptly, and the staff were polite. The drinks were excellent as well! I would genuinely consider coming back just for cocktails.
That said, the overall four-course experience fell short for us. Nearly every dish was overwhelmed by sauce that was either aggressively sour or overwhelmingly salty, to the point that it completely overpowered the well-cooked proteins. The flavors were so intense and unbalanced that we felt physically nauseous by the end and rushed out of the restaurant to get back to our hotel. Also, the table next to us ordered the bass, and I love fish, but it smelt so unpleasantly fishy that I was turned off.
There was also a grapefruit and orange “house soup” served before the main dish, intended to refresh the palate. It was odd to us because there was also what tasted like a lemon sherbet in the soup. The bitterness and acidity felt harsh and actually triggered acid reflux for both of us. Plus, the transition from a warm appetizer to a very cold soup and then back to a warm main course was very off-putting.
On top of everything, portion sizes were surprisingly small. I understand that tasting menus are structured differently, and I’ve enjoyed similar experiences at other restaurants without issue. This was the first time I’ve left a multi-course meal hungrier than when I arrived.
One additional disappointment was the seating. Even though the restaurant was about half empty when we arrived, we were seated right next to the only other occupied table. We asked to move as soon as we sat down, but were told that no other tables were available. About 10 minutes later, a couple was seated next to us and made the same request and were accommodated. There may have been a reason for this, but from our perspective, it left a poor impression.
Perhaps the regular menu is better however, for a special Valentine’s dinner, I would say don't waste your time and money.

The food and service were excellent. I recommend the wild mushroom gnocci and the braised veal cheeks, the flavours and the meat tenderness are unreal. If you can, ask for a table facing the kitchen in the brasserie, those are the best spots. Finally, we very much appreciated that the payment terminal didn't have preset tipping amounts. We will definitely come back soon.

A beautiful brasserie with a refined, classic atmosphere. The space is elegant and very Montréal. Polished and quietly upscale.
I ordered a mocktail as I wasn’t feeling well; service was discreet and reserved, very much in a European style. We shared the octopus, which was tender and well prepared. The steak frites were good and properly executed, satisfying, though not extraordinary.
Overall, a pleasant experience in a lovely setting. Worth visiting for the ambiance and solid brasserie fare.

Great Saturday night dinner at Monarque. Beautiful restaurant, bustling with people and great energy. We ate in the Brasserie. The food, wine, service, and overall vibe were all excellent. For starters, our table of four shared the octopus and trout tartare with such fresh bread.and butter that was so good we had two servings. The mains were delicious tuna and the lamb special served with vegetables and potatoes that melted in your mouth. Dessert was an excellent tartine, the combination of apples and ice cream was perfect and so yum. We also enjoyed a really nice bottle of red wine. Just an all-around great night.

Truly delicious food. I ate at the bar in the brasserie side and received impeccable service from the whole team, all of whom were great company. As a solo traveler, it’s nice to be made to feel like a guest and not just a customer. Charles and Andrea both made thoughtful and successful wine recommendations for each of my courses. The boudin bastien was the star of my meal, but everything was delicious. Even the complimentary bread was divine. This was the best meal I had in Montreal, and a great value for the level of quality. It’s a more classic approach than some of the trendier restaurants, but that’s not a bad thing at all.

It is a very nice experience to spend your time at least once at this restaurant. We had a fine dinner at this place last night and the food and drinks were amazing! So tasty and so so much delicious!! The only thing that I wish was better was if the portions were a bit bigger:)
