We were quite disappointed with our experience at Monarque. The food was wonderful, however the waiter was horrible. He spilled water all over our table, never came to check in on us. We would have liked more wine but instead of asking if we wanted refills, he just took the wine glass away. When you’re paying so much money for a meal it would have been nice to feel more welcomed there.

Walked into Monarque and instantly felt the mix of old-world charm and modern polish. The vibe alone sets the stage, but the food? Next level.

My favorites:
Bone marrow with escargot — rich, savory, absolutely killer.

Bouillabaisse — deep, saffron-kissed broth loaded with fresh seafood.

Lobster Thermidor — decadent, creamy, and perfectly old-school French.

And believe it or not, the melon cocktail stole the show. Light, refreshing, the perfect reset between all that richness.

Service was smooth, space is stunning, and every plate felt like it was crafted with purpose. If you want a spot where classic French technique meets a bit of modern swagger, Monarque delivers.

We made a reservation for our family of five, including my 8-year-old son and my parents who are in their 60s. For appetizers, we ordered bone marrow, beef pot, foie gras with bread, and grilled octopus — all were absolutely delicious. For the main dishes, we had lobster, duck leg, and lamb, which was especially tender and flavorful.

The service was excellent as well. Our waiter was very friendly and took the time to explain that all the ingredients come directly from the owner’s farm to the table, which made the experience even more special.

The whole dining experience was comfortable and enjoyable. We did not encounter any of the discrimination mentioned in some previous comments; on the contrary, everything felt professional and welcoming. Overall, it was a truly wonderful meal, and we’re very grateful to the team for making it so memorable.

Was very crowded yesterday, still, like always, the service is smooth, even with a lot of patrons we were able to make a full meal (drinks, appetizers, entrees and dessert) a little under 2h
For drinks we got a beer and a mocktail
The Not Into Yoga mocktail was just too good, peppery, with a very creamy coconut milk
The white beer we got was very good for 9$, bitter just enough
For appetizers we decided to try the tuna tartare on special that was amazing, and some nordic shrimps with succin which were very tasteful
We continued with the half lobster, served with salad, fried cauliflower, an extra order of fries and the butcher's cut which was flank steak served with fries. Everything was good, except that the meat had little bits of tendons inside which made it a little bit chewy
Finally the dessert was the pavlova with raspberries which we shared. It was really good, raspberries were just acid enough to counter the sugar from the meringue and whipped cream

We were delighted by our experience at Monarque (Brasserie). From the moment we arrived, our service, food and setting were impeccable. We had a view of the kitchen which was fun to see the diligence given to each dish. Guillaume took care of us and he was such a treasure, from helping us decide on our order, to suggesting the pace of our meal, brining us hot lemon water before dessert because we were so full - he was wonderful. Above and beyond.
We ordered the seasonal Stracciatella and heirloom tomato dish which was amazing AND the least special of our entire order. All of the vegetables are now grown at their own garden. The bone marrow and snails was my personal favorite. It is a dish that is not to be missed, and hits your entire palette. For our entree we had the pork chop, which is sourced from a local organic pig farm and was so unexpected and delicious. The sides we selected of green salad and French fries, so unassuming, were also HIGHLIGHTS of the meal. The ability to make such simple sides with such precision was delightful. We finished with their special pavlova style merengue and it could have been a better finish. We had to talk ourselves out of returning for our second (and last) meal in Montreal. We felt so welcome and not rushed at our table (we were there 2 hours). The service was exceptional - the entire staff tended thoughtfully to every table. Thank you, Monaque for a memorable date night.

This was one of the best restaurants I have ever been to in Montreal. It makes complete sense why it was one of the top restaurants in Canada (#17). Service was top tier and the atmosphere was a vibe. The food was absolutely incredible and I had the best time eating here. I can’t say enough good things about all of the dishes. Underrated dish of the night was the morel mushrooms, asparagus and fiddleheads. They were cooked to perfection. The bone marrow and snails were chefs kiss. All of the mains were to die for and you can’t go wrong with choosing any of them. The desserts were wonderful. The passion fruit pavlova was the perfect combination of tartness from the passion fruit and the airy sweetness of the meringue. The rice pudding was really sweet but the flavour combo was great. The maple crème brûlée was a standout with the maple flavours. Overall I had an amazing experience with the food, service and atmosphere. Highly highly recommend!
