It was here that I first discovered Lanzhou noodle soup, and it quickly became my favourite place to eat during the years I lived in Montreal from 2014 to 2018.
After leaving the city, I moved around quite a bit across Europe and the Americas. In each new place, one of the first things I’d do was search for the best Lanzhou noodle spot. Some of those bowls were excellent, but nothing ever matched what I remembered from Nouilles Lan Zhou.
When I finally returned to Montreal this summer for the first time since 2018, I came back here and ordered a bowl. After six years, I realised what I’d been missing. The flavour and texture blew me away all over again.
Thank you, Nouilles Lan Zhou, for serving me the best bowl of my favourite food. I can’t wait to visit Lanzhou itself someday to try the original, but this place will always be special to me.

The food and service are both excellent! Big thank you to the man in the front, who I believe is the boss/manager of the restaurant. Super accommodating and friendly. I live in the states and haven't been back for a few years, but will make it a point to visit any time I'm back in Montreal!

Do yourself a favor and go here. You can see them making their noodles from scratch right as you walk in. This place was bustling but the service was still fast and attentive. I ordered the Combo #3 vegetarian noodle soup with black egg and edamame salad with the #4 size noodle. It was pure comfort in a bowl. There is also a speciality grocery shop downstairs that has a little bit of everything!

I took a large bowl of their specialty. The only difference with the smaller ones were the noodles' quantity, the topping was the same, so proportions were not really great.
The noodles themselves were excellent but it was very little seasoned, it really lacked flavor.

Staff ignore you when you walk in. Staff ignore you when you are ready to order. Seating feels cramped, dirty, dark. Food is mediocre; Broth is watered down and missing flavour, missing vegetables, missing meat. Which white tiktoker made this place popular 🤣

The place was packed with a huge line up on the street. Inside you will have to share table with someone else. A bit dust on the wall. But the quality of food is great. A good portion of beef there.

Dan dan noodles
- on the drier side, nice twist, the spicy level wasn’t spicy at all.
- Noodles were bouncy and soft, perfect. You could tell they were hand crafted
- Meat to noodle ratio needs to increase.
- Medium size is huge, its 2x portions.
- The cucumber salad was a nice twist with the Sichuan chilis
The server sneezed three times, apologized after the second time. He didn’t wash his hands and served water to the new table.
The restaurant has a quick turnover rate. The food was delivered fast, it was hot and fresh.
I wouldn’t order the Dan Dan noodles again, but might try another noodle soup dish.

Amazing food and staff! There’s a constant lineup and kudos to them for being able to keep up
Amazing noodles but there will probably be a queue! It is a little small for space but it is to be expected for chinatown. Still one of the best langzhou noodles I’ve had

I stopped going to this restaurant about a year ago after a terrible experience with the worst waitress I’ve ever encountered — poor service, food overloaded with chili powder bomb, and even being pressured to leave a tip. However, when I returned yesterday, I was pleasantly surprised to see that she was no longer there and that the staff had been replaced with waiters. The service was prompt and reasonably friendly, and the food was much better this time.
