I have to say that I am a regular at coco, I buy tons of pastries but I can see in the pass year or so that with popularity the quality of there regular items have diminished. For hard pastries 🍰 to very little filling I didn't believe it at first but after a few more buys it was evident..... I did complain and got compensated but still a fact that it's not has great as it was..... what a shame.

Very rich but the service is the worst, the cashier is rude, arrogant and the most unfair thing there is to tip, I won't come back again...that woman should work in cleaning where she doesn't deal with the public.

I was disappointed with the quality of the pastries!
Especially the pork bun is way too sweet and has a strange taste compared to those I used to eat in another branch!
Customers also made the experience unpleasant to touch everywhere without using the utensils and tray!
Finally, the twisted chocolate brioche didn’t taste like chocolate, which is quite a shame though!
In short, disappointed...

Cheap! Charge 25c for a paper bag when the one they gave me when I purchased was too small. I didn't have this change with me...I had to walk 5km with a bag that was too small, very uncomfortable and the cakes crushed.

Your 25c made you lose a family of customers ✌🏻

I've been going to this bakery for some years now and it was always good. But for some time the bubble tea wasn't as good as before (lukewarm and didn't taste as before) and some of the pastries that I usually buy aren't as good as before.

But what made me decide to stop going to this place all together was the fact that, a month ago when I visited, they told me that I did not pay when my card was clearly accepted and had to pay again. I showed them proof that they made me pay twice (that amounted to 80$ in total for okay pastry) and they did not want to reimburse me.

After a long time, we finally revisited Chinatown in downtown Montreal last weekend. We were mainly there to buy a few things, but of course, we couldn’t resist exploring the dessert options. This time, I chose Coco Pâtisserie, and it turned out to be an excellent choice. While many bakeries on the same street offer a variety of pastries, Coco stands out with its twist—it has an impressive selection of brioche, both sweet and savory, along with a dedicated section for coco iced tea and bubble tea. Their array of cakes and unique flavors really caught my eye.

We took advantage of their deal for six brioches (no tax when you buy six or more). The plain one (or “nature”) came in a separate bag, and the other six we picked were: Oreo, ananas (pineapple), cheesy, tapioca, sugary, and custard. Let me break down the experience:
- Oreo Brioche: This one wasn’t my favorite. It was a bit too heavy for my taste, and I found that the egg flavor was too strong, which overpowered the Oreo aspect.
- Ananas Brioche: Surprisingly, this one tasted better the next day after I put it in the fridge. The pineapple flavor really stood out and became more enjoyable after chilling.
- Custard & Sugary Brioches: Both of these were consistently good. They had a nice balance of sweetness, and the textures were just right. I’d definitely recommend them.
- Tapioca & Cheesy Brioches: These were okay but didn’t really stand out. The tapioca one had an interesting texture but lacked a strong flavor, while the cheesy one was fine but didn’t wow me.
- Nature Brioche: The plain one was a winner, especially when paired with a little bit of jam or Nutella. Simple yet delicious, it was a great example of how good a basic brioche can be when done well.

Overall, the brioches were fresh, well-made, and offered a range of flavors, making it a fun and varied experience.

Now, let’s talk about their twist, the iced tea. I tried two from their menu: the fresh fruit tea and the brown sugar latte with pearls. The fresh fruit tea was incredibly refreshing and packed with real, fresh citrus fruits. It had a natural sweetness and a bright, tangy flavor that I loved, perfect for fruit lovers. The brown sugar latte was also fantastic, with just the right amount of sweetness, and I found it to be better than similar drinks from more well-known shops. The pearls had a good texture, and the drink wasn’t too sweet, which is often a problem with this type of drink at other places.

What surprised me the most was seeing some bad reviews about Coco Pâtisserie. Our experience was smooth from start to finish. When we picked our brioche, the process was straightforward. You just choose what you want and head to the cashier, no hassle. The staff was polite, and they even asked whether I preferred a box or bags for our items. In the bubble tea section, the girl working there was very helpful. I had a few questions about the drinks, and she took the time to explain everything clearly and with a smile.

Overall, for me, it was a great experience, especially compared to other similar pastry and tea shops I’ve visited earlier this year. The service was friendly, the food and drinks were fresh and tasty, and the prices were fair. I highly recommend trying Coco Pâtisserie if you’re in the area, especially if you enjoy fresh fruit teas and a variety of brioche. It’s definitely worth a visit 🌷.
