Best vietnamese food in Montréal !!
best in mtl
WARNING this place tried to SCAM me by overcharging. They gave me a menu with prices listed, when it came time to pay, I noticed they charged me more. I asked them about it and they said the menu I got was an old menu. I also paid with credit card and they charged me 15.5% tax on top. The meat is also bland and dry. This place will try to trick tourists because they count on them not looking at the bill. Also the place smelled horrible inside. Avoid this place
It smells like human feces throughout the whole restaurant, I had to ask the waiter to open the restaurant door. The pho was mediocre at best, the meat is fatty and not of good quality. Wouldn't recommend.
The food was bad the shrimp was not deveined . The meat was hard !
Went here for a quick lunch. This is an no-frills pho restaurant. I foolishly did not order pho, which I started regretting right after ordering and seeing everybody else’s soups. Once I received my piping hot beef curry, and took my first bite, all my regrets dissipated. My food was delicious with a good portion. The vegetables were perfectly cooked and seasoned, as was the beef and without any fat or gristle.
Great food! They have small medium and XL pho that was very interesting!
Stopped by Pho Bac 97 before hopping on a flight from YUL airport. It was around 1pm on a Tuesday and super CROWDED! We were seated in the center of the dining room and it was quite tight. All the staff were occupied with other customers, so I had to flag one down to get our order going. I ordered an iced Viet coffee with a Pho Bo Vien, Pho Ga and Pho Dac Biet, all in medium size. The portions were pretty generous and the flavors were really good. My coffee was a great balance between coffee and milk as well. It was the right choice for an in-and-out meal!
I ordered a small bowl but it was more than enough to fill me up. They served me tea at the beginning, which was really nice and comforting. The service was friendly, and overall I had a pleasant experience. The only thing I’d mention is that the side salad seemed a bit carelessly presented, but everything else was great.
Phở Bắc restaurant is a great mainstay within Chinatown. Serving variations of Phở & classic comfort Viet dishes in a humble laid back environment. Staff was friendly & delivered speedy service. I was in & out within less than 20 minutes. Perfect spot for a quick meal. Would visit again!

I have been going to this restaurant for over 20 years, and until recently it has been one of my favourite pho restaurants, comparative to the quality you get in Vietnam.
Recently, this restaurant has undergone major changes. Prices have spiked, portions have shrunk, and, critically, the deep flavour of the broth has diminished greatly. Still an ok soup, but this will no longer be my go-to favourite pho in Montreal. Shame.
Great flavour broth, not salty, just right.
Friendly, quick service, third time here.
Got the medium Chicken Pho this time.
Complimentary tea every time.
Way better than pho bang new york across the street.
When I first entered this restaurant, the entire place was filled with the smell of the restroom. The bathroom door was left wide open, so I closed it myself, but the smell didn’t go away.
As I was eating, I could hear the sound of small animals running around above the ceiling, causing the thin ceiling panels to shake. Some panels were sagging, cracked, or even had holes in them, making me worried that something might fall through at any moment. My friends, who were with me, were so uneasy that they were ready to leave right away. The sounds weren’t just from a few animals—it was clearly the noise of dozens running around, and we could even tell where they were moving based on the sound.
When I asked the staff about it, they claimed it was cats living upstairs, but it was obviously a large number of mice or squirrels. There is no way I can trust the hygiene of this restaurant. I will never come back.
That being said, I had actually visited this restaurant several times last year and considered it one of my favorites. When I returned after a long time, I noticed that the sign had been renovated, the menu had changed, and the prices had increased.
However, the pho still tastes very good! Unfortunately, I can no longer trust the state of the kitchen, so I wouldn’t even consider getting takeout from here. It’s truly disappointing.
The restaurant has an unpleasant smell, a strong odor of urine that hits you as soon as you enter. I don't remember it ever being like this during my previous visits, and I regret staying. I won't be returning.
The people were absolutely amazing. The restaurant is pretty deserted but definitely worth it.
