I had a fantastic experience at Pokai! I tried the bánh mì and the poke bowl, and both were fresh, flavourful, and generously portioned.

The bánh mì was everything it should be—crispy baguette, savoury fillings, fresh herbs, and just the right balance of pickled crunch and spice. The poke bowl, though more of a modern twist, was equally impressive—fresh ingredients, well-seasoned, and super satisfying.

What really stood out was the excellent value. For the quality and portion size, the prices are more than fair—making this spot a go-to for both taste and budget.

The service was friendly, and the vibe of the place was relaxed and welcoming. Whether you’re grabbing a quick lunch or sitting down for a casual meal, Pokai is a great choice.

“I will still write " yes " because I want to encourage local businesses. I am happy that you decided to be a part of Too Good To Go to fight against food waste. But when I pick up japanese food that's supposed to have a 42 $ value, I expect to get japanese food, and I expect a 42$ value. 2 chicken broth soups with dumplings, and 2 bowls of rice with curry sauce and small frozen eggrolls aren't japanese ( except for the curry sauce ... ) and aren't a value of 42$. I feel cheated.“

“This is the third time we order from this place and poke was always good. However the last time we ordered a rainbow poke which we are used to order came absolutely spicy beyond belief to the point we had to throw it away. I’m really disappointed to spend over 50$ in food and it ends up in the garbage.
Update: I was contacted by the restaurant and was offered 2 bowls of my choice free of charge and the quality of the food was perfect.

“I rarely leave reviews but wow I’m impressed with this place. The service was quick and easy (you get a ping when your order is ready) and the place is small and quaint. But that isn’t what impressed me. It was how perfectly balanced the food is.

Usually when I order a bibimbap, it’s mostly rice with some veggies. I don’t eat a lot of carbs so I usually throw the rest away.

But this place uses just the right amount of rice but loads up on veggies. Kale, carrots, black beans, cucumbers. And my gosh the fried onions! Such a perfect mix. Of course, the pork was perfectly marinaded and tender.

5/5 would come back again and again.“

Dont mind the big line, you won't wait more than 5 minutes at most. service is incredibly fast, the food is amazing, generous, and cheap.

great afternoon snacks, always a stop when i am in the area. i so wish they had more locations.

the kimbaps are so fresh, you get it and the rice is still a little warm. yummmm! juicy, umami, balanced sweetness, crispy nori.

“This place has some of the best affordable sushi in town. We came in on a saturday evening before the big snowstorm and the restaurant was not busy at all. We were the only customers.

The rolls were great and the fish was fresh. We ordered a few platters and the wait time was fine. However, there was a very tiny issue when we wanted to ask for the bill. We were told the bill could only be given to us after everyone had paid. Fine. We were given the bill when paying.

However, when we got home, we noticed that the restaurant had charged us an extra 2 rolls (+20$) to our bill. It might have been a mistake from the staff, but this could have been avoided if we were given our bill before we paid.. We'll be back in the future as the food was delicious and we had good service, but removing a small star because of the bill issue.“

“My family and I stopped in for some bubble tea as we were extremely thirsty from walking around Montreal. Their bubble tea was the best we have ever had yet and the atmosphere was welcoming and on inviting and the staff amazing! Thank you for a great visit!“

“We had the salmon and the vegi poke bowl with shrimp tempura as an appetizer. Following this, we decided to also get the california and the shrimp tempura rolls. The food was absolutely delicious and we would definitely recommend it. The size of the bowls were a little bit small for us, which is why we also ordered the rolls afterwards. The service was very fast, friendly and forthcoming. Would definitely come again.“

“I loved my salmon poke bowl. I found that the quantity of salmon was very generous and the toppings were varied. I liked that there was wakame in my bowl. The piña colada smoothie was also very good.The only thing is that in the restaurant, there are lots of boxes everywhere and you can't eat inside. This didn't bother me because I ate sitting on the grass near the church.I will definitely go back there.“

“Ordered a pickup during my short stay in Montreal. Spicy Salmon roll, and Unagi Nigiri. Order prepared quick and tastes good. Miso lacks flavor but loved the veggie bits. Overall had a positive experience and will order again when i visit ;)“

“I forgot a paper bag of Bath and Body Works products at the restaurant, and I thank sincerely the employees whose kindness and honesty made it possible for me to pick it up the following day.

Prior to this, we had ordered a tuna and salmon poke bowl which was delicious. It came with 2 free spring rolls from a coupon. I also ordered a small bowl of edamame beans which were fresh and crispy/ bouncy.

The day I picked up my paper bag, I asked for the original milk tea which was refreshing and perfectly sweet. It was very reasonably priced as well.

The only con I could write is that the free spring rolls were still cold on the inside—they must have not been fried long enough. In any case, they were still delicious and my boyfriend and I did not actually mind 😀.“
