We chose some dumplings that we knew we would enjoy and also went for the chef's surprise, which consisted of 15 dumplings in 5 different varieties. In my opinion, the dumplings from that were pretty hit or miss, so I recommend sticking to ones you know you'll like.

As a self-proclaimed dumpling aficionado, I couldn’t resist stopping by Qing Hua Dumpling in Chinatown Montreal for dinner. Known for their fresh dumplings made to order, this spot is a go-to for many, and I finally had the chance to see what the hype was all about.

We ordered the Chef’s Special Dumplings and the classic Shrimp, Pork, and Chive Dumplings. Let me start with the standout: the shrimp dumplings. These were everything I could hope for—plump, juicy, and bursting with flavor. The shrimp and pork combo was perfectly balanced, with the chives adding that subtle aromatic kick. The dumpling skin was the right thickness, holding the filling together without overpowering the bite. Absolute perfection!

Now, onto the Chef’s Special. Unfortunately, this one didn’t live up to the name. While the dumplings were good, they lacked the wow factor I was expecting, especially compared to the shrimp dumplings. The flavors were a bit muted, and I kept wishing for that extra pop that never came.

A bonus point? They accept cashless payments, which makes the whole experience more convenient!

Pro tip: Stick with the classics here—they’re classics for a reason. The shrimp, pork, and chive dumplings are definitely worth the trip. Pair them with their house-made dipping sauce, and you’re in for a treat.

Overall, Qing Hua Dumpling delivers on quality and freshness, but some dishes shine brighter than others.

Highlight: Shrimp, Pork, and Chive Dumplings
Would I come back? For those shrimp dumplings? 100% yes!

Very low quality. The lamb smells and tastes very cheap. Spring rolls were horrible with nothing in it. If you want good dumplings try petite pousson dumplings on st laurent.

My favorite dumpling restaurant in Montreal, keep coming back to it after trying many more. Cheap price, good food!

I visited last night with a friend, and the experience was great as usual—I’ve always loved the dumplings here. However, I woke up around 2 a.m. feeling unwell and ended up vomiting my dinner. I suspect it might have been the beef, so I’ll avoid ordering that in the future. Despite this incident, I still love this place and will continue coming back for their amazing dumplings

I love dumplings so much I had to check this place out. I just got what the server recommended and stated was their most popular dumplings - the pork and cabbage. They were so good, so juicy and packed with flavour. The only thing I would suggest to the restaurant is to create a better tasting or unique chilli oil which could really elevate the dumplings even further. You have to check this out if you’re in Chinatown in MTL and love dumplings. The prices are also so reasonable and so far from breaking the bank!

Should have walked out without paying. Slow service, bland/subpar food, and we were violently ill afterward.

Great cheap dumplings! This restaurant's only downfall is that is SO busy. Don't try to get in at lunch hour... We love it here during off hours!

Vegetarian options: Lots of veggie options 👍🏼

Best restaurant in Chinatown. Incredibly savoury dumplings. And way less crowded than Sammi!

If you like coriander, get the Pork and Coriander. The Curry Beef is also super tasty. And be sure to get it steamed! The soup stays in the dumpling that way.
