Excellents puppusas et prix abordable.

Given the size, I thought my salad was a starter. 16$ + 3$ extra chicken + taxes + service, we're around 25$
For a small bowl of lettuce, a quarter of an avocado, a cube of feta and three strips of chicken that fight a duel.

Not strong guys. Not strong.

Expensive, the dishes are basic and everything is an extra, around $5 each extra. Slow service and practically self-service. Very overrated experience for the type of food served. I don't want to imagine ordering a meat dish, more expensive than The Keg.

La Carreta was recommended to me as the best Salvadoran restaurant. I went on Sunday evening to eat with my friend. We waited for about 1 hour and when the food came, it came all at once. The waitress was lovely , she listened to our complaint very calmly and apologized.

This place was honestly terrible. So terrible that it has motivated me to write my first review ever - from the couch while suffering from a terrible stomach ache and regret. The prices were different than on the menu ($4-5 higher per drink/dish) which felt especially painful because the food was so bad - a combination of dry and greasy. Despite having a strong stomach, our meal (pupusas and tacos) left me feeling nauseous. We came here because the seeming popularity based on the number of customers when we passed by and the overall rating (4.2). I have never been so overwhelmingly disappointed and caught off guard by how bad the food is at a restaurant before and astonished that all the people around us did not simply get up and leave. How 1,200 people have come here and yet it has a 4.2 rating is unfathomable and I swear I am being neither dramatic nor picky. I feel bad for the servers: the indigestible food and wait times are most certainly not their fault, yet I am sure they suffer the consequences through reduced tips. BE WARE, but especially, do not make the same mistake we made in coming here.

I write this out of a sense of duty to warn other diners. I do NOT have a particularly refined palate or high standards when it comes to food. I have occasionally eaten out of dumpsters and cooked up some fresh roadkill, and both have provided better meals than I was served at Restaurant La Carreta.

Yes, the service was painfully slow (though pleasant), and the menu we were given had prices that turned out to be simply wrong (out of date?), and the bathroom was marginally functional. These can all be forgiven for the sake of a good meal.

But the food, the primary reason for going to any restaurant, was terrible. Tacos: cold tortillas with dry kernels of beef and a spoonful of bland tomato. Pupusas: flavorless and sodden with grease. Even the margaritas were impressively bad! I’d never before had a truly bad margarita, but La Carreta somehow pulled it off.

Perhaps we had a singularly bad experience - there are 1200+ mostly positive reviews here and plenty of patrons at the restaurant - but there is genuinely good Salvadoran food in this area (Resto Los Planes, for instance) so do some research and please save yourself and your stomach from this culinary travesty.

We primarily went to try their pupusas—thick, handmade corn tortillas filled with various delicious ingredients, such as cheese, beans, pork, or loroco (an edible flower bud).

Delectable fillings,  golden-brown, crispy exteriors that give way to warm, gooey centers bursting with flavor and a symphony of textures and tastes that are both comforting and satisfying.
They were served with curtido, a pickled cabbage slaw, and a side of tomato salsa, adding a zesty and tangy contrast to the rich and hearty pupusa.
A versatile dish that can be enjoyed as a snack, appetizer, or main course. Whether you're a meat lover, vegetarian, or cheese enthusiast, there's a pupusa filling for everyone to enjoy.
We also enjoyed a wonderful tamale, a warming beef soup, some excellent and colourful cocktails, and yes, even a poutine with yucca fries (we had to).

A must-try for anyone looking to experience the joy of authentic Central American food. So, if you haven't had the pleasure of trying pupusas yet, we recommend this. You won't be disappointed!

Excellent pupusas, and the yuca was cooked perfectly. The chicharron was nice and crispy. Always a pleasure eating here.

Yo pedí el desayuno Mexicano y en la descripción del desayuno dice aguacate y No traía aguacate pusieron yuca! I said to the table and told me that I didn't have any aguacate (I had the taste that I would eat at the moment I ordered) and I wanted to wait for the El Salvadoreño to solo a trozo of carne de puerco frita and in the description ( photo) this Friday 3 there will be a difference in price with my husband because it is my car
El Salvadoreño por la supuesta carne, el sabor de la comida in general simple, muy simple y para terminar la Señorita te dice que el desayuno incluye café y para nosotros estuvo bien peeero when solicitamos más café a mi esposo le traen media tácita y a mi I don't know if I found the "olvidó" at the table and had a good experience or tenacity with high expectations...Yo No lo recomiendo...
I ordered the Mexican breakfast and in the breakfast description it says avocado and it didn't come with avocado, they put yuca! I told the waitress and she said they didn't have avocado (I wish she had told me when ordering). My husband's breakfast, which was Salvadoran, had only one piece of fried pork and in the description (photo) you can see 3 and that was the price difference with mine because it is more expensive
the Salvadoran because of the supposed meat, the taste of the food in general simple, very simple and to finish the lady tells you that the breakfast includes coffee and for us it was good but when we asked for more coffee, my husband was brought half a cup and for me already they didn't bring it to me, the waitress "forgot" it and well, bad experience or I had high expectations, I don't recommend it .

The food is good for sure but I was a bit disapointed with both the difference between what we saw on the menu and what we got (ex. a portion of guacamole in the menu replaced by a slice of avocado on my plate). I found it a bit expensive for what I've had.
