Terrible, I will never return. If you’re looking for authentic Mexican food, this is not the place.

From the beginning, the service was extremely slow; they took way too long to assign us a table, and the wait for the food was even worse. When it finally arrived, the portions were ridiculously small, and the flavor was completely bland. As a Mexican, I can confidently say that the dishes served here not only fail to represent our cuisine but also have no coherence whatsoever.

Definitely a huge disappointment.

Terrible, I will never go back. If you're looking for real Mexican food, this is not the place.

As a Mexican, I can say that the dishes served here in no way represent our cuisine and have no consistency with each other.

A huge disappointment, without a doubt.

Pésimo, never volveré. Si buscas auténtica comida Mexicana, este no es el lugar.

From the start, the service is extremely slow; We were late and added a table and hoped for the food for a little while. When finally llegó, the portions were ridiculously small and the savor, completely tasteless. As a Mexican, you can decide with certainty that the dishes that serve no one alone do not represent our gastronomy, otherwise the drumsticks have no coherence between them.

Definitely, a big disappointment.

Without real flavors
The tacos are dry
Overcooked churros
Disappointing unfortunately because this restaurant was recommended to us. It's a real disappointment. Missing most things on the menu. Wait 45min for the overcooked churos. We will never go to this place again.

Extremely slow service. The restaurant barely had anyone in it on a Saturday night and we only got our food after a 1.5 hour wait. It’s literally tacos. Everything is precooked. What took so long? Octopus was not good. They didn’t have a taco of the day, home brand beer was not good.

The only positive who was the amazing waiter who did his very best to make the best of this very poorly ran restaurant.

I would recommend to sit at the terrace for drinks and guacamole, but I wouldn't recommend if you are looking for fine Mexican dining. We visited La Catrina during the Montréal à Table event with two friends. We sat on the terrace, the atmosphere was cozy, and the seats were very comfortable. The service was also nice and attentive. The real letdown for us was the food. We ordered their pre-arranged 3 course menu, which is meant to showcase the restaurant, but everything just lacked flavor. Nothing was bad, it was just disappointing, and we felt it was not worth the price.

That being said, my friend ordered the grilled rib steak from the menu, and it was honestly delicious—clearly the standout dish of the evening. We also enjoyed our margaritas, and ordered seconds.

Overall, while the ambiance and service were enjoyable, but the food didn’t live up to expectations, especially for the price. But sitting at the terrace for drinks and guacamole, yes yes yes!

We went to this restaurant to enjoy the MTL experience at the table. Needless to say, we were very disappointed.
We waited a long time between each course, even though they weren't even very elaborate dishes, our napkins were taken away between each course and never replaced, the cocktails we ordered never had the same taste so that there were 3 of us taking the same one.
We were informed that the bar was already closed even though we had still not received our dishes.
And at 10:23 p.m. we were told that the restaurant was closing in 7 minutes and that we had to hurry even though we hadn't finished eating.
A very pretty restaurant, but deplorable service, too bad.

Service was extremely slow. Food was cold and clearly left under the heat lamp. Food was OK - there are better places to go in Montreal for Mexican food.

We went to dinner for mtl at the table. The reservation was for 2 hours, but after 1.5 hours we were asked to leave.
Beautiful evening which ended abruptly.

We had the discovery menu. The appetizers were tasty! The squash soup and trout confit were very good. The trout confit was creamy with a lot of flavour and the chip with the confit added a nice crunch. The squash soup had a good balance between sweet and salty. The main dishes were lackluster. The al pastor tacos lacked seasoning, the chicken was bland. As for the Tumbaba rice, the shrimp were perfectly seasoned but the rice was undercooked and bland. The highlight of the night were the dessert! I would highly recommend the Tres Leche, it melted in your mouth and was delicious. The churros were crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Loved the ambience in the place. Even if you just came by for some drinks and a small bites it would be worth it.

Took about 2 hours for me and my friends to have 3 tacos and a few shots each here. As noted in other comments, service is remarkably slow. It took them about 50 minutes to serve a total of 9 tacos. When we arrived it was fairly busy, but by the time we left the place was nearly empty which made it evident that we were not being cared for. The server didn't bother to apologize to us for the long wait at any point either. Took a very long time to get our bill too, had to ask a second server as the first one seemed to have forgotten. The menu is very small, not many options overall. The quality of the food was pretty good though, and the salsas were enjoyable. They really need to speed up the service, that is their greatest weakness right now.

I believe this is my very first public written review.
My experience yesterday was completely unexpected, one of the worst services of my life. From the moment we walked in the door the girl at the bar looking for our reservation was zero helpful. When the waiter made his first contact at the table to serve us water, he didn't even speak to us, my friend had to say "good evening" to him. Hearing my friend ask me, -what are we going to drink? He immediately says he has a Margarita/Beer promotion and that it ends in 10 minutes so we can order 1 round quickly. Then we have to call him after a while to order the tacos. So they arrive with COLD rice and a green salad with no dressing and 1/4 dried lemon each. Everything is bad. We had to stand behind the waiter all night because he never came to our table to check if we needed anything, such as hot sauce, for example. Eventually the girl from the bar who was serving us at the entrance saw us and we ordered another beer and a JARRITOS, which took the girl who is an employee at a Mexican restaurant almost 3 minutes to figure out what was going on. was ordered. She didn't know what the drink was. They forgot, so the drinks arrived some time later. As for the food, it was ok, it was good! The best tacos for my taste were the chicken with mango sauce and the brisket, but very basic, nothing WoW. There is enough work to be done in this Montreal location. I really felt sad and disappointed, it seems like a lack of respect for the person who is going to sit and experience this beautiful place that has amazing decor and space. There is a lot of potential and they are not exploiting it and using it to their advantage. We can do better.

Tacos were very delicious but I took one point off due to total lack of spiciness. We had the Baja fish and El Pastor tacos and guacamole. We were offered "spicy" for the guac but apparently they don't understand what spicy means. We even asked for a side of what tha called "habanero" sauce but I doubt any actual habaneros got anywhere near the sauce. It had little flavor and NO spiciness at all, zero.

That being said, we'd go back with a different expectation about the seasoning.

Service was very good. Took one star off atmosphere because we had to sit downstairs (no reservation) next to the bar and the bartender spent the entire time of our meal loudly talking to a bar patron about his workout routine.

My favorite Mexican restaurant in Montréal and in Canada so far. Servant is very friendly and supportive! It is conveniently located in Old Port. Highly recommend this place when touring Old Port area !
