The service is great and the whole setup is interesting. I do think the chef has put way too much attention on the formality and presentation than the food itself. I would say that the actual food is mediocre at best.

My husband and I celebrated my 40th birthday with Pastel's nine-course tasting menu and wine pairing, and it was nothing short of transcendent! Attaching an art movement to each of the nine courses was a fun and inventive way to think about dining, and for us at least, an entirely unique concept. At first the idea of a nine course meal seemed daunting, but the service staff were excellent stewards of the repast, guiding us through each course with a knowledgeable finesse and charming humor that is rare in this age of fast casual, break-neck speed dining. We were thrilled with our experience at Pastel! It was truly one of the most delicious, thought provoking, and ultimately fun dining experiences I've ever had and one I won't soon forget. Thank you Team Pastel!

Best culinary experience! It was an amazing journey from arrival to departure. We tasted a menu around ART and it was such a fantastic idea. Wine pairing was amazing and we had the opportunity to try wine from different country! Thank you to the entire team! We had a very special time, and even an extra birthday cake!

We loved our experience at Pastel! It was our last night for vacation in Canada and the team there did not disappoint. Louie greeted us and brought us to our table. Fiona, the sommelier, was incredible and recommended the perfect wine. Mike, our server, offered amazing tips along the way for our 6 course tasting menu. Alex provided fun banter while bringing dishes throughout the night.Highly recommended!!

Soirée remarquable. Alexandre est un hôte des plus sympathique. Olivier suggère toujours le meilleur vin pour accompagner le repas. Et la cuisine de Julien est unique, exceptionnelle et de grande créativité préparée par une équipe dynamique et professionnelle. Une expérience gastronomique que l'on garde en mémoire longtemps. We had a wonderful evening at Pastel. The food was inventive and beautifully presented. The “prestige “ wine pairing was inspired - off the beaten track selections that complemented each course. The servers were engaged and seemed genuinely enthusiastic about the fare.

When reading the reviews, almost nobody mentions that it takes 4 hours for a 6 course tasting menu. You find yourself sitting for almost an hour in between each tiny serving you get. This makes the experience the complete opposite of being enjoyable, after first 3 courses we were still very hungry and couldn't wait to leave and go buy more food. We even had to request to receive food quicker as it was getting so late. The food is good, but portions are tiny, there should be at least 8 courses for the price that this costs.

Louis, Simon(Dorito man), Fiona, the Barman who made us too many drinks (not complaining), everyone was quite charming, knowledge and empathetic. Food was thoughtful, surprising and very much comforting and more. Some abuse can be thrown in, so things aren't quite as boring next time though. Chef and pastry chef are insane.

Not the kind of restaurant you can afford to go to every night. The portions are very small, but wow are they good. Every single thing is beautifully presented and tastes fantastic. The staff was incredibly friendly, they altered the menu for someone with allergies without ever making them feel like they were missing out. For a special occasion or a date, can't recommend it enough. Definitely a must-try restaurant.

L'hésitation entre 4 et 5 était sur la notion d'excellence : le service l'était, énormément d'attentions, beaucoup de personnes, des serveurs (et serveuses) joyeux et passionnés. La cuisine l'était quasiment aussi (d'où le 4) : des amuses bouches splendides, des « pré (entrée/desserts) » excellents et travaillés mais des plats beaucoup plus simples. Cette simplicité (bar, caille, tartare) dénote un peu malgré la perfection de la réalisation. Surtout au prix final. Merci tout de même pour ce moment et ce service vraiment très très bons.
