The food is good although the bread and dressing was not my taste. The service was acceptable and the ambiance could be better for sure.

Not to be confused with the larger, more popular and (at least visually) more appealing Reuben's Deli and Steakhouse a couple hundred meters down Saint Catherines. Waitress did a great job schoomzing us here but I felt like a sucker. The smoked meat and wine were mediocre. Poutine and coleslaw weren't bad though.

I wasn’t feeling well on my way to Reuben’s and almost turned back, but I’m glad I didn’t. When I arrived, I told the server I was taking out, and he still kindly offered me water — a small gesture that already showed how thoughtful the staff are. I ordered their famous smoked meat sandwich (which lived up to the hype!) but had to step away for a while because I felt really sick.

When I came back, the owner noticed and asked if I was okay. I told him I wasn’t feeling well, and he immediately offered me a bottle of Perrier to help me hydrate — and wouldn’t even let me pay for it. That simple act of kindness genuinely made my day and helped me feel better.

It’s rare to find that kind of care and humanity in a busy restaurant. Beyond the great food, Reuben’s has truly wonderful people. Highly recommend.

The meat lacks flavour. It's stacked in a one sided fashion. So the half sandwiches have the shape of triangles in cross section. The fries were cooked in over hot oil and had that chemical burnt type flavour. As a two day visitor to Montreal I feel as if I've squandered an opportunity. I'm really looking forward to Schwartz's tomorrow for lunch.

What an amazing experience from start to finish. Our waitress who's name I cannot remember (older blonde woman) absolutely made our evening. She was delightful and attendant, instructed us through the menu, and made sure we were taken care of. Delicious sandwiches and typical pub fare, a montreal institution. if you are craving a smoked meat sandwich, look no further

Food was a good portion for the price paid but not very good, the service was absolutely amazing and the restaurant had this speakeasy vibe which was quite cool but the machines made an annoying noise and a man behind the bar was speaking loudly into a speaker to the kitchen but we could hear it

Very cool restaurant, felt almost like I was transported to a past decade. Love the vibe and decor. Extremely well maintained establishment. However the food itself felt mediocre. Portion size of the kaiser sandwich was very disappointing and the meats were just okay. There was a subtle lack of attention to detail like placing the pickle on a hot plate just made for a warm pickle which isn’t very appetizing. Poutine was probably my favourite part of the meal. Also one awkward moment of the meal transpired where the server dropped a mayo pack on the floor but swiftly picked it up and tried to conceal her putting it back on the plate and served it to me right after. Extremely odd and somewhat disrespectful moment which I assume was a momentary lapse of judgement. Overall my expectations for the food itself was not lived up to, but it’s a cool restaurant.
