We went to Saiko Bistrot on a tuesday night for my boyfriend's 25th birthday. He ordered the nigiri omakase and I ordered the complete omakase, which includes the 10 nigiri, 2 entrées, a soup and a piece of cake, and we shared everything.Warning : the prices that are displayed on the restaurant webpage are from 2020 and are not up to date. We payed 80$ for the nigiri omakase and 150$ for the complete one, which is twice the price from 2020.Apart from the surprise of the price, the food was really worth it. Every ingredient is sooo tasteful and selected with care by the chef. We sat by the bar, and the chef prepared each piece in front of us, asking us what we preferred and adapting depending on our answers. I'm not usually too much into japanese food, but this was incredible. Our entrées were 8 pieces of sashimi (salmon, tuna and scallop), followed by 3 pieces of grilled scallops with crab, that had such a nice crisp to them. The soup was served with 4 makis and it was delicious. Then, the 10 nigiri were delicious : we had salmon, yellow tail tuna, shrimp, wagyu beef, eel... And finally, for the dessert, we chose a yuzu cheesecake that was very good, even if the slice was thin.Worth noting that the restaurant closes at 9, and the omakase takes quite some time : we got there at 7, and finished eating at 9:15, rushing a little through the end.To sum up, it is quite expensive, but I've never been so happy to spend this amount of money on a restaurant, it is very worth it.

I discovered this sushi place by recommendation. It was worth the try. We ordered the Nigiri Omakaze, and the chef prepared us freshly prepared Nigiri and some personalized ones not from the menu. They were some of the best that I've tasted in Montreal. We really enjoyed this experience, and we'll definitely come back!

What a fantastic omakase experience. Chef Shin Ichi was knowledgeable, personable, and passionate about his craft. He's trained and perfected his skills for over 30 years and it shows. We opted for the "bigger" omakase option with 2 appetizers, soup, 10 pieces of chefs choice, and our choice of dessert. Everything was delicious and well prepared (eg: he took the time to score the lines of the squid). Apps were top notch and 100% worth the extra splurge.Saiko has a lovely & chill atmosphere, although the exterior is unassuming (most of downtown Montreal seems this way). Would definitely come back again next time we're in town, and I recommended you do too.

I came to Saiko Bistrot Izakaya a while ago and tried their Omakase. For the 10 piece omakase, I had: King salmon (Fairly fresh and crunchy, with a tint of sweetness), Bluefin tuna (Good texture, fresh, firm but not chewy), Hamachi (Excellent, oily on its own but good blend with condiments), Sea bass (Very crunchy, nice spice mix), Red snapper (Crunchy but smoother/softer than sea bass, really tasty and refreshing), Shimaichi (Good, new/unique flavour), Saba (Very fresh and sweet, extra tasty with the marinade), Otoro - Tuna from North Sea (Fatty, good but not as good as Japan), Toro - Caribbean (Fatty, soft, good), Hotate/Scallop (Fresh, sweet, nice balance). Overall, the omakase offered a wide variety of quality fresh fish for a decent price so I'd give it 8.5/10

Exceptional sushi. In terms of nigiri, this is #1 in Montreal. They now have 3 of the top sushi chefs. Sit at the sushi bar.

First time in Montreal and a local brought me here. The best sushi I have eaten with sincere and amazing chefs. An experience I will never forget and want to return. I ordered the chef special and each piece melted in my mouth.
