Not our first time here, but definitely our last. I called on tuesday to book a table for 11 for Saturday. When we arrived, the hostess told us the reservation was somehow set for Sunday. Completely unacceptable, especially on my birthday and a Saturday night. To be fair, the hostess apologized and was very nice, but still had to rearrange tables and customers to fix the mistake. We waited 15–20 minutes before finally being seated.

The drinks and atmosphere were fine overall, but the night ended on a sour note. When our server, Nick, brought the bill, he noticed a photo of my dog on my phone and said, “Well, as long as you love her,” then went on about how he prefers cats, basically calling my dog ugly. I was honestly taken aback, especially after such a nice evening with our table. Felt like unnecessary animosity after a night of getting great cocktail recommendations from him. Wouldn’t recommend this place.

I swear I already did a review but I can’t find it so I’m gonna do it again because this place is so fabulous! I was here 10 years ago and loved every minute of the experience. I remembered the poutine as being awesome! On this visit the poutine was even better than I remembered and actually it was the best in Quebec City and Montreal that we had in our two weeks of trying poutine everywhere. The espresso martinis were absolutely to die for (yes we had several), kudos to the bartender though I’m sorry I failed to get his name. Carlin was our server, host, everything to all people and he was fabulous! He was fun, funny, friendly, efficient and even more! The rest of our food was to die for as well, the atmosphere was just lovely, we love sitting by the big open window and watching the work go by! Thank you and kudos to all!!

The food was mediocre at best. The service was very poor. We had to wait awhile before ordering another drink. The bartender and server were too busy having shots and other drinks with other customers. We had to wait another time while bartender was socializing and dancing by kitchen.

Was in Montreal on vacation ( from Halifax) for my birthday back in late August and had to come back to The Saloon. I had been there for lunch one day a number of years ago during a layover with the VIA Rail train and I absolutely loved it. This time did not disappoint either. Great patio, great decor, incredible food , ice cold beer and a gorgeous French male server. What more could you ask for. Jason and I had a wonderful time and experience. What a great way to start a night on the town. Thank you.

bonjour j'ai vécu une situation discrimination harcèlement dans ce restaurent la au téléphone du propriétaire george il ma dit je passe mon temps a faire fuir des inconnu a dérenger les employer aussi tout ca sa été inventé contre moi quen jétais partir du restaurent en novembre dernier 2024 oui jai faite une plainte oui si ça vous arrive à vous faite attension quen vous allez parlé au employer au propriétaire aussi pour pas une telle chose vous arrive à vous tous merci soyer prudent la bat ce propriétaire la mérite pas ètre propriétaire malheureusement un vrais propriétaire ferais jamais du mal à quelqu'un voila merci

My partner and I stopped by here before heading out for the night, and we had such a great experience. The staff were amazing, the drinks were excellent, and the vibe was super chill and welcoming. We’ll definitely be back and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Montreal. I asked our server for suggestions on where to go next, and they kindly recommended a few spots it really made the night even better.

Hip little bistro in the heart of the Gay Village. Sunday dinner was great - delicious food, attentive & friendly staff and fun pianist/singer duo. Truly a gem of a place - wish I'd found it sooner!

First night in Montreal I ate here had the French onion soup. Horribly sick with in 5 hours and spent all day the next day in my hotel room recovering, ruined our trip since we were only here for 2 nights.
