I visited Sel Noir yesterday after hearing great things, but unfortunately my experience didn’t quite live up to expectations. I ordered the ribeye steak, which arrived quite burnt, and upon tasting it, the charred flavor completely overwhelmed my palate. I mentioned this to the server, but unfortunately nothing was done to address the situation.
In addition, the service was quite delayed — even the drinks we ordered arrived after almost 30 minutes, which added to the disappointment.
I’m sharing this not as criticism but as feedback — I believe attention to such details and a bit more care in service response could make a big difference, especially for a place that clearly aims for a high-end dining experience. The ambiance and presentation were lovely, but I do hope future guests have a smoother experience.

Horrible never again this restaurant for us...We were shown the door because they were waiting for a group yet the restaurant was far from full...With two bills of more than $500, I expect something else. We knew we had a time for the table but we waited around 20 to 25 minutes between the end of our meal and the time they served us before finally telling us we had to leave. Moreover, the food is decent but not up to expectations.

A wonderful steakhouse experience with quality dishes and warm atmosphere. The steak was well-prepared and the truffle fries were a flavourful treat, but the true standout was the cheesecake; rich, smooth, and easily the best part of the meal. Highly recommend!

Sel Noir was an amazing experience. I went there with my friend who was visiting Montreal for the first time from NYC and she too loved it. The food was 10/10, the portions are huge and I can’t forget our server Tony, his customer service was exceptional! I will definitely come back again.

We chose this spot for our 4 years anniversary. It’s a pretty restaurant with a good ambiance. The drinks and food were good but the service was mid. An incident that made us a bit frustrated was when our server, Gabriel, took our half finished plates away in his hands and then after asked “fini?”while walking away. When we decided to ask for the bill, it took forever to get his attention and then forever again to come back for payment. We wanted to be comprehensive that they might be busy, but they were mostly just chatting among themselves. Also, we mentioned about our anniversary in the reservation, not that we were expecting anything, but just a verbal congrats would’ve made us feel appreciated. We had a tab of $500+ and still decided to leave 18% tip, but we don’t think we will come back.

Food took forever to get to table , waited over 40 min for a salad ! Once the steak and fries came they were cold , horrible service ... Bunch of kids working here .

The steaks are cooked to perfection — juicy, flavorful, and seasoned just right — easily among the best I’ve had in the city.
But the real showstopper for me was the dessert: their Nutella cheesecake. Absolutely gorgeous presentation, creamy texture, and the rich Nutella flavor blended perfectly into every bite. It’s the kind of dessert you’ll be dreaming about long after you leave!
If you’re looking for an unforgettable dining experience with top-quality food and impeccable attention to detail, Sel Noir Steakhouse should be at the very top of your list

Its was good. I really like the location and decor very cozy. The drinks were good. They got girls night out special on Thrusday. As for the food it was OK. I feel like the fries were overcooked. My burger was huge but the bun got very greasy and the caramelized onions were a little too much on the sweet side. But overall, I wouldn't mind going back to try something else

Had a great experience at Sel Noir! Went here for dinner with a group of 12 guys to celebrate a bachelor party. The space is beautiful and gives perfect steakhouse vibes. The staff gave excellent recommendations to feed us all within our budget. We ended up getting a few Rib Eye surf and turf meals for the table as well as an assortment of appetizers. The steaks were huge and all the meat was all beautifully cooked. The bone marrow beef tartare and grilled octopus appetizers were also incredible.
The wine selection was extensive and we all left there feeling like we ate a meal fit for royalty. 10/10 would recommend as the food and service is awesome. Will absolutely be going back. Thank you to all the staff for the excellent meal and hospitality!
