Solémer restaurant et poissonnerie

The food was clean and good, but nothing special enough for me to go back. George was friendly, but he pressured us to order certain dishes and kept standing at the table waiting, tried to upsell, and he even forgot one of the dishes. His jokes were meant to be funny, but they crossed the line at times, and he kept asking for a Google review, which felt a bit pushy.

We usually go there often, the food is delicious, the music very nice but the main reason we like it very much is the service, specifically Georges (very sweet, kind, funny and friendly) and Milad. Absolutely recommend!!

We absolutely love Solemer. We always come for the tajin, octopus and fried fish! Georges was our server and he is a gem! Loved the service and the vibes!

Stay away!

I am really disappointed by this restaurant who forces the amount of the TIP instead of letting me enter what I wanted. He lied by saying that he doesn't like to get the tip by credit card, when suddenly he charged a big amount on my credit card. I invited family members with me, so I didn't want to enter into a conflict.

Not recommended at all, and will never go back to this restaurant.

I ordered in-home catering yesterday, August 2nd, in the West Island. Delivered, and supplied decorative platters! What a phenomenal spread, and unbelievably tasting food. Solemer impresses on every occasion, whether it’s a business lunchbox, a baptism, or a fully catered home event. We’ve done business with them for many years and always amazes our guests and customers. Incredibly attentive to every detail and attentive to special requests. I would not order from any other restaurant if we’re looking for traditional Lebanese. Exceptional work Elie and team! Thank you so much!

Horrible experience and ambience- the service is unwelcoming and not client centered. The waiters are very pushy and loud. Not worth the prices at all. Mixed grill is super salty and not good at all. A place to avoid for sure.

My whole family is visiting Montreal and my one request was to get good, authentic, Lebanese food and this place really delivered. Incredible mezze selection! My favorites were the roasted cauliflower, muhummarah, and hummus. Plus we were able try frog legs for the first time and they were delicious! I was excited to see kibbeh nayeh on the menu, it was so fresh! The owner, Elie, was an amazing host and really welcomed us in true Lebanese fashion. I highly recommend dining here!

Le service est minable. Nous étions 5 et sur 2 plats commandés il y avait des erreurs. Le serveur met la faute sur le chef, mais il a bien bien vu que nos demandes n’étaient pas respectées et quand même le serveur nous a cherché les plats. Le pain FRIT se sert avec le poisson et pas les restes rassis de petits bouts de pain du fattoush de la veille. Nous n’avions qu’une hâte quitter le resto sans prendre de dessert et surtout le regret de notre mauvais choix de resto. Dommage !

I ordered four pieces of basa fish with the intention of cooking it at home. The staff insisted it could be cooked there for free, so I thought, why not give it a try? Big mistake. When I got my order, the fish was barely cooked,not even halfway, maybe a quarter cooked,and there was still raw liquid sitting in the container.

Completely unacceptable and unsafe. I won’t be coming back.

Extremely Disappointing Experience

Unfortunately, this was one of the worst dining experiences we’ve had. From the moment we arrived, we were rushed by the waiter Milad, who was clearly more focused on turning tables than providing a pleasant experience. We felt pressured to order quickly and were discouraged from ordering grilled shrimp because he insisted it would be “too much food.” It was rude and unnecessary.

As we were still eating, they started removing the plates and tidying the space around us, making it clear they wanted us gone. The entire experience felt rushed and uncomfortable. To make matters worse, the bill was expensive, and the food was honestly below average—not worth the price at all. 100CAD per person!!!

Save your time and money—there are far better places out there that actually care about their customers. Go to Beroya, Kaza Maza, La Sirene de la mer
