Tldr: Overall, would recommend.
The restaurant sells the experience of an authentic japanese restaurant, and it excels. Food is very good, and as far as i can tell, it is authentic ; but if you come in expecting flavors akin to that of a michelin restaurant, you may be disappointed.

Its main strength is the experience it sells. As far as my memory recalls, the mannerisms of the staff and choice of food is very remiscent of my experience in japan. It it were not for the other Quebecer patrons, it really felt like i was brought back to Japan.

Although the food was quite good (with excellent selections, including miyazaki wagyu and crown melon for the supper menu when i went), it isnt anything extraordinary taste wise (say, compared to 1 star michelin restaurants). This standard may be harsh, but given the price, i find it to be a fair comparison point. Mind you, the food is still very good, but i wouldn't say it's the restaurant's best strength. The flavor profiles, however, are very typical to that of an authentic japanese restaurant - and authentic restaurants aren't typically michelin quality.

Some update. I’ve visited this place twice—once about two years ago and again last month. The meal was excellent both times, and it’s clear the chef is highly skilled. However, I’m not sure I’d return unless it’s on the company’s dime. Having traveled to Japan many times and experienced a wide variety of authentic cuisine, I feel this restaurant is overpriced for what it offers. Unfortunately, it seems to be a common issue in Canada—getting exceptional Japanese food here often comes with a premium $$$

‘Stingy’ is an understatement. Been living in Japan and having dined at similar price point around the globe, this place is just ridiculous. Fish were NOT fresh. Tiny nigiri and thinly cut sashimi (which had no respect of fish texture will make a sushi master jump and curse at the pupil) are beyond my 25 years of dining experience at any Japanese restaurants. The bill will cover your travel expenses to NYC or Toronto for better sushi.

Btw, this establishment should not hang its Michelin star sign when Michelin hasn’t yet came to Montreal. It’s false advertising.

We were rushed to eat, the service was going way too fast, we couldn’t understand anything when the server was explaining the exotic fish/product we were eating, the restaurant as well as the kimono the servers were wearing were dirty and full of dust, they shown us fish that weren’t fresh as their eyes were gloomy and whitish, sushi didn’t taste fresh.. bill cost 900$. Incredibly disappointing, felt and tasted like a scam.

It's a theatrical omakase place and obviously there is some theatrics involved. However that also brings the possibility of having rowdy patrons and that was a deal breaker for us. Food wise there are scopes for improvements, especially at this price point. But there are not many places in Montreal to offer an authentic omakase experience.

For the occasion of my birthday, my partner and I had reserved 2 months in advance for a gastronomic evening at this restaurant. We mentioned my seafood allergy at the time of booking. We confirmed our presence twice by email at the request of the establishment. Two hours before booking we received a call telling us that they would not be able to serve us due to my dietary restriction. Fortunately we managed to find a place in another good restaurant. I still find it highly disappointing the way the situation was handled for an establishment of this range. We felt no compassion from the establishment. Ironically, they told us they would not charge us any fees for canceling our reservation. I think it adds insult to injury.

Unique experience in Montreal. Yeah it is on the pricey end, but this is not the place where you would go on the regular basis, worth to visit at least once. Especially if you’ve never had an omakase experience.

This was a surreal moment. I was worried what I was getting into. No menu. The chef choses each day fresh fish from Japan. So every day is a different thing. Food melted in my mouth. They explained what everything was. So polite, and ready to tend to any of my needs. They even showed me the way to the bathroom, but they entered first made sure everything was perfect before they let me go in. Worth the $$$ I spent. All was prepared In Front of me. Wand my guest was super happy too. Love love love
