Used to be good. Now it isn’t.

New owners replied with a statement defending themselves for poor quality and messed up orders and changes in how things are done is somehow my fault because it was “busy”.

Stock Selection is reduced, I can’t get our favourite flavour of Mince Beef, cheese & Bacon. Not “Classic…” I never mentioned the word classic.

The gravy HAS changed, it’s thin, simple and brown just like the powered stuff. The original gravy was based off of the pie filling and was thick, slightly grainy from the tomato’s and herbs and was real.

They now put all the side dishes in a slop of one pot so the Peas, Mash and Gravy are all mixed up. I’ve never ordered like this. I would always ask for “A Stack” and I would be asked how many and would say “3” and I would get 3 individual small tubs of gravy, 3 of Mash Potatoes and 3 of Mushy Peas.

I’ve discovered a better recipe online and will now continue to make a home version of something that used to be a quality treat is no more.

Also they stopped doing all the nice UK/OZ/NZ imported snacks and sweets.

Sad to see a great business fail under new owners.

My second visit and just can't wait to go back! Thank you to the nice young man who served us yesterday evening... You're a true gentleman. See you soon 🤩
Fyi, small counter space to eat a pie but mostly for takeout. They have desserts and frozen pies to take home individual or a full size pie. A must try!

Butter chicken definitely taste more spicy than what it before, before was more savory sweet
The beef mushroom was lacking beef and mushroom , still taste nice though

Some has definitely change up here

I'd still purchase their pies on occasion. Nice that they are on uber eats

Greeted promptly at the door. Friendly young man working behind the counter was quick to let us know all of the different menu options. All of the fresh pies would take 15 minutes to warm up and prepare, while pies in the case were pre-heated. We opted for the pies in the warming case. They were absolutely delicious, and there were so many different filling combinations to choose from. However, an hour or two after dining (and not eating anything else in between), I was facing some serious stomach issues. I think it would have been wise to wait the 15 minutes for a fresh pie. I have a feeling the one I chose from the case had been sitting out warm all day. The atmosphere is not something to write home about, as the food is better enjoyed as a take-out option. But it is decorated very nicely, for the small space they do have. Be warned, there is no bathroom. The coleslaw was fresh and light. Wasn’t too heavy. Yummy crunch to it! My only other criticism would be that the fridges weren’t well stocked with pies to take home, and there were only a few warm pies offered in the case.

We used to look forward to our visits to Ta Pies, but our last experience will sadly be our last. Over the past 10 years or more, we’ve happily enjoyed many Ned Kelly’s, Curried Veggies (our favourite) and Butter Chickens. After being away for some months, the pie that we bought today was almost laughable, except that it cost us 31$ for a virtually empty pastry shell. The minuscule quantity of chicken in the butter chicken was, frankly, insulting. If there has been a recent change of ownership, as inferred from a previous review, it is surely not for the best.

A friend strongly recommends the Australian traditional savoury pies from Ta Pies, and there we are. There're many fillings to choose from, we went with the classic beef pie, and it was incredibly satisfying - rich, comforting, and full of flavor.

One nice bonus is that you can also buy the pies frozen to take home and bake yourself, which makes it even more tempting to stock up.

After trying the classic beef, I'm definitely looking forward to coming back and exploring more of their fillings next time.

OMG!

Ta Pies never disappoints! Their pies are beautifully baked with buttery, flaky crusts and hearty, flavourful fillings that taste homemade in the best way. The service is always welcoming and genuine, and their lamingtons are on another level — soft, fresh, and simply the best you’ll find anywhere. A true gem for anyone who loves quality and comfort.

Absolutely delicious! The crust is golden and flaky, and the filling is rich, tender, and full of flavor. You can taste the quality and care in every bite. The steak & mushroom pie was my favorite — perfectly seasoned and comforting. Friendly staff, quick service, and a cozy atmosphere make it even better. Easily one of the best spots for a hearty, homemade-style meal. Highly recommend!
