Had to send the app back twice - was totally cold. Waited 30 minutes for our main course, Had to send then both back, Not our servers fault? But who is responsible for the service of our food Not a good experience
This is one of our favourite restaurants to host family and friends when they visit. Thank you for an enjoyable meal!
Our server was wonderful. Attentive, friendly. We sat on the patio because it felt a bit noisy and stuffy inside. Our table was a bit small and cramped but not uncomfortable. The evening was a great temperature for eating outside. The food was excellent, well prepared and flavourful.
Excellent food and wait staff but restaurant was very crowded and noise level approximated a rock concert.
For the most part the reviews were good. Nice decor and friendly staff. An interesting take on escargot with the bone marrow and served on a house made bread, but the escargots were tiny, which did not match the price. The steak & frites came with the steak covered in a sauce. The steak was an extremely tough piece of meat - very chewy. The best thing on the plate were the french fries. The bass was okay at best and the carrot puree tasted like baby food. A full pot of mussels in a tasty broth came with a load of fries, but could have used some bread to soak up the tasty broth. Too many other restaurant choices to consider returning to Gaspar.
Sat at the bar for a glass of wine and Prosecco before dinner. The bartender was very friendly and helpful picking out a good red wine by the glass. Restaurant was very lively and food was very good.
The food was excellent, especially the octopus salad. The wait staff was amazing-excellent service but very real and fun.
Great food and good service. The ambiance is very nice. It's a great place for a dinner, especially sitting outside when it's nice out.
I've lived in Montreal for over 10 years, and honestly, this was the worst food I've ever had at a French restaurant. We ordered the snails and bone marrow, grilled octopus, beef cheek, and duck confit. The snails/bone marrow and octopus were ridiculously salty—I could barely tell what I was eating, not to mention there was no bone marrow at all. The beef cheek and duck confit were both dry and tough, and the risotto that came with the beef cheek tasted like it came from a microwave. I know a lot of Old Port restaurants cater to tourists, but this one really seems to have leaned into being a tourist trap. Super disappointing.
Dominique notre serveur, sympathique et vraiment top au niveau service et suggestions! Très belle soirée!

The Braised was delicious. But there was way too much Parmesan for me, it took away from enjoying the Risoto. Otherwise very good. Duck confit- meat portion was too small. Otherwise good. Salad was very good.
I had an upsetting experience at this restaurant that I hope future customers and the management take seriously. I LITERALLY CRIED THE WHOLE EVENING AND NEVER ATE WHAT I ORDERED. I was dining alone and on a video call with my boyfriend, speaking in my own language at a reasonable volume. Suddenly, a man beside me with another table interrupted and rudely told me to “keep silent” and called me “annoying.” Moments later, he and his partner began speaking even more loudly than I had been. It felt like I was being singled out not because of noise, but because I was speaking a different language. The tone, the entitlement, and the double standard made me feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. No one from the restaurant staff intervened or stood up against this behavior, which was disappointing. They even told me to move to another table or eat outside. WHAT A CLOWN. The man was getting in my nerves. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. I hope the restaurant will be more mindful in the future and make it clear that racism, xenophobia, or any form of discrimination is not tolerated on their premises whether it comes from staff or fellow customers. Everyone deserves to enjoy a meal in peace, regardless of their language or background. I hope they had a good meal that night while I have to cry at the table because I was embarrassed. They should have rented a restaurant where they are only two, if they don’t want another people talking. It’s a public place. They’re just very feeling entitled and they feel like they owned the restaurant.
Une terrasse très accueillante, le personnel compétent et respectueux. Demandé Marie-Florence. La nourriture très bien.
We loved the bottomless mimosas and the food! So much so that we went two days in a row. Our servers were amazing both times.
This was our favorite dining experience of the weekend. The decor was warm and inviting. Food and service were excellent. A combination of couples, families with children, and tables of friends contributed to the enjoyable atmosphere. We will definitely return to Gaspar French Brasserie.
