Mixed feelings about this place. it's a must visit spot given the history. I get the appeal, it's old school, nostalgic, but the service is so off putting. The older female server was rude and had zero patience. They welcome the local or regulars, but genuinely feel they don't like everyone else. Also her and the cook were both coughing while serving food without turning away. To me that's straight up nasty... Coughing on the food and drinks they are preparing right in front of you.. In this day and age pls be more hygienic and wear a mask if you are sick when you are in the food industry.
Taste wise is ok but everything else took away from the overall experience.

What an experience. Go in, sit down at an open stool, let them decide! I had cherry coke and their original sandwich - it was absolutely delicious. Don’t knock until you try.

The sandwich was as expected.. a baloney salami and cheese sandwich. Nothing special. The worst part was the feeling I felt upon walking into this place. Seems like the entire family was working that day, must have been 6 people standing behind the counter staring at us walk in as if we were disturbing them. Not 1 person out of 6 said hello, no smile, they all seem to hate their job. Won't be back, won't recommend either.

Wilensky’s is an absolute gem of a joint. Timeless, simple, delicious.
Had the Wilensky Special with pickles & a cherry cola, who knew a bologna sandwich could be so good!

Lightning fast, super friendly service! Gnocci tastes delicious! Where else can you find such a good portion of a tasty meal for 6$? I was so full, I almost couldn't finish it!

Try the hot dogs, onion top, Swiss cheese, with a pickle and a cherry cola. It's heaven!

Great people, good food that always hits the spot we went on a secret food tour and came back the next day. The sandwiches are the best I ever had. It's a baloney, mustard, and cornmeal type bun with great texture. Also comes with a side of pickle spears. Will come back again when we go to Montreal

Very cool experience with the special sandwich with cheddar, cherry cola, and the pickles. I should have had two sandwiches but was trying to pace myself that day.

Light sandwich and tasty. A family-run business and an old one in Montréal.

To be doing one and the same thing for 100 years and don't try to partially be up to date for me is rather shocking. If everyone were thinking the same way, human progress was going to be stuck in the ice era. As for the place - rather an American movie decore than a food option. The insignia sandwich, feeding several generations of this family is rather pale mass of salami with cheese, really outdated. May say it was interesting, sort of trip back in time, not really tasty. Seeting is also not comfortable. Not accepting cards is quite inconvenient. We got to notice this after ordering and got no advice from the numerous staff, so in addition to the trip in time had to make one to the cash machine, as well. A demonstration of no progress that needn't be supported, while in most itineraries, you are prompted to go there. I would call this a tourist trap

If you're in the area, drop in! It is a light lunch for sure. Don't expect a full meal. Fast and friendly. No credit cards.
