This new fresh look is a grand improvement from the old pastali but as for staff and service there has been a huge set back. For the size of the dining area the restaurant is understaffed and what seems to be inexperiencely staffed at that. I was a regular patron to Pastali in years past and the vibe is not the same and seems the familiar knowledgable and experienced staff have been replaced. We were a group of 5 everyone ordering basically the same, garlic fingers and super/regular donairs some with tomatoes some without.. and a daily special, pretty simple. frederique was a very cold waitress, not entirely pleasant or unpleasant, very stone faced but with a hint attitude when it came to order requests and service that took longer than expected for a time just before rush lunch hour.. we came way before dinner quebec time and the dining room was not that full.or busy at all, what seemed like a quick in and out turned out longer. we placed our orders and our appetizers of soups and garlic fingers came out 45 minutes after ordering and another qt minutes after for our main meals. when asking waitress she said I only have two hands repeatedly, it was clear she was untrained or under stress being a waitress for which she should have remained professional.and polite which she hasnt. ending of service was stuff of nightmares. Frederique started harshly complaining to our guests we were with that our tip was insufficient and that we should have tipped the mandatory 15% and demanded that our guests cover.for our insufficient tip because if not her boss will take the tip off her pay cheque. our guests explained that tip is based on service and politeness speed and quality and should never be MANDATORY.. I'm sorry but if your in the service industry please show your worth the gratuity we give you in the end but if you dont show your deserving than dont ever expect a tip...
I love Pastali. The food is so good.
