Walked in and smelled divine butter pastries baking we knew we were at the right place! Amazing quality baked goods and to go sandwiches at reasonable prices. Lots of pantry and great gift items as well. Super friendly service. Highly recommend place to grab a bite. This is the cafe adjacent to the Hôtel Manoir Victoria. Definitely try their main restaurant Chez Boulay which is around the corner for a proper meal!

What a charming local bakery and bodega. This has a large variety of baked goods and food. This is a small take-out over-the-counter spot for pastries and snacks. The food has a northern influence. The packaging is very distinct and it makes a gift very special.

Legit French-style bistro with lots of traditional dishes, some with a modem twist. Tables inside and out managed by fast, friendly servers. Bit of a mixed bag on the food, mostly good. Apps: Trout ceviche was large and amazing, Seal country pate (yes, you read that right, seal) was surprisingly two-dimensional in flavor and texture. The onion soup had a weird foam on top which I think was the cheese and bread, blended. Didn't work - yuk. Duck confit was great - would have been even better with crispyer skin and carrots instead of pointless lettuce. The creme brulee would have been great were it not for the strawberries and over-torched sugar.

The pastries are really good. Would not recommend the coffee as it's machine coffee and not very good.

Cons: it is really a to go place with no reasonable sitting accommodations. Pros: if you stop by for a good pastry - that is the place - probably the best I ever had...and prices are very resonable! If I ever again in Quebec City, this is the first place I'm going.

Chez Boulay, the celebrated bistro in Old Quebec, was opened by renowned chefs Jean-Luc Boulay and Arnaud Marchand, known for their creative approach to boreal cuisine. The menu offers a delightful exploration of local products and traditional French techniques, with a particular focus on game meats and regional ingredients. Our dinner featured hearty dishes like duck breast and grilled meats, alongside more unique offerings such as bison and a delectable sea buckthorn tartlet for dessert.
The atmosphere is welcoming, enhanced by attentive and enthusiastic service. Our waiter’s charm and animated interactions added a touch of humor to the experience. With its excellent quality-to-price ratio, Chez Boulay stands out as a must-visit for those eager to taste the flavors of Quebec’s terroir.
