Ascenseur du Faubourg, 1942 by Wilfrid LacroixThe Faubourg Elevator is a prime example of public Art Deco architecture and holds significant architectural value.Originally designed to accommodate two elevator shafts, only one was operational initially. This elevator could transport 16 people and travel 300 feet per minute, completing a round trip in one minute.
Never had any problems. Except that it closes too early some evenings. It would take more opening hours for people with reduced mobility. It's the only elevator that connects the upper town so it's important.
For the laziest, or on a hot summer day, take the elevator and pick up some wonderful French pastries and a coffee on the fly. Really good coffee by the way! Excellent courteous and smiling service :)
