I often go to the Hotel Monastere des Augustines and its Le Vivoir restaurant for breakfasts. Food is very fresh, plenty of fruits and vegetables, eggs, vegan spreads, chia pudding and herb teas. I like having breakfast in silence in the bright dining room.

Discover a true hidden gem! Are you craving healthy, delicious food in a serene and tranquil setting? Imagine supporting a meaningful cause while enjoying your meal. Welcome to Le Vivoir, a charming restaurant nestled inside a historic hotel that was once a monastery, boasting nearly 400 years of rich history - dig into the story of the Augustinian Sisters for more fascinating details.

The menu is impressively 80% organic, featuring a tempting array of salads and fresh vegetables that are sure to delight your palate. The buffet presents a variety of options including hearty soup, one meat dish, seafood, and tempting small desserts. All this comes at about CAD$50 per person, including tip and taxes, with a glass of wine available for around CAD$10. And if you are a tea drinker, try their tea made from 400 year-old recipe.

Getting there might be a bit tricky on your first visit - refer to my photograph for guidance, and note that walking from Cote du Palais is the way to go, as there’s no access from Rue Charlevoix despite Google Maps suggesting otherwise.

Reservation is a must - recommend time 6pm.

We had really nice and healthy vegetarian and pescetarian dishes. Nice to find such a place in Quebec City.

I try to go to Quebec City every year or two and always stay at Le Monastère des Augustines. The building has been tastefully restored to blend the old with the new. The morning guided meditative walks and afternoon restorative yoga classes are always highlights of my trip in addition to the amazing breakfasts. This is a unique and beautiful place to stay in an amazing city!
