I am very disappointed with the experience I had here. I came to this café to get some work done and had already purchased two drinks. Not long after finishing my second drink, the owner/manager came up to me and asked what I would be ordering next. It was an older Asian man wearing glasses. I was confused since I had just finished my drink.

He then began sweeping around me in a passive-aggressive way before asking again. I explained that I had already bought two drinks and didn’t need another immediately. His response was that the café is “for customers” — but I am a customer. I felt extremely uncomfortable and unwelcome, even though I had already paid and supported the business multiple times before.

To make things worse, he did the same thing to another woman nearby, who was just as shocked and upset as I was. This behavior is rude, unprofessional, and unwelcoming. I will never return to this location. It’s unbelievable that this is how paying customers are treated.

Disappointed and Shocked Long Time Customer Treated Disgracefully

It’s incredibly disappointing that I have to write this review, as Café Dépôt in Bois-Franc used to be my go-to spot for getting work done in a calm, familiar environment. As a local resident, I’ve been coming here for years, always respectful, quiet, and supporting the business. Unfortunately, what happened today was completely unacceptable and deeply unprofessional.

While I was sitting outside on the terrace taking a work call (as I’ve done countless times before without issue), a woman who seemed like a regular but not an employee suddenly invaded my personal space and began yelling at me to get off the phone. She was aggressive, disruptive, and shockingly rude.

To my surprise, instead of de-escalating the situation or supporting a long-time customer, the manager came out and bizarrely sided with this individual, falsely claiming that I’m “always disruptive.” This was baffling to hear, as not once in all the years I’ve come here has any staff member ever approached me with a complaint. In fact, I’ve had friendly conversations with staff in the past, and have always made a point of purchasing drinks and snacks while I work.

The manager then accused me of “never buying anything” a claim that is completely false. If there were ever concerns about customer consumption or policies around work-related use, why was it never mentioned until now? Instead of handling things professionally, the manager escalated the situation further publicly humiliating me, banning me on the spot, and even calling the police.

Ironically, even the police officers themselves seemed confused as to why they had been called they openly remarked that the manager appeared to be on a power trip. As a private business, it’s their right to ban whomever they choose, but the way it was handled speaks volumes about the lack of professionalism, poor judgment, and absence of basic customer service standards at this location.

If you’re looking for a peaceful place to work or relax I strongly advise you to look elsewhere. What was once a welcoming neighborhood café has clearly changed for the worse, and I’ll be pursuing this matter through the appropriate channels. Discrimination, public humiliation, and false accusations should never be tolerated especially from businesses that claim to value their community.

Great space! But 9$ for two cookies is exaggerating!

Nice spot and layout, good coffee but it's just impossible to sit. I just stopped going.

It's a library, always packed, people stay there for hours.

Coffee was excellent. Does NOT close at 10pm, now closes at 9pm (hours changed updated on door, but not online). Also, don't let your coffee sit in a discardable cut for over 6h and expect it to not leak like the table next to me did lmao

I've been coming here since my university years and it is a good café if you need to study. However, if you're looking for an actual café experience, it's not the best. The place is not very well maintained, the bathroom alone is dirty most of the time and needs a full renovation. The food is overpriced and pretty average. Coffee is good, however, they are so understaffed and the service is sooo slow that it will take you 20 minutes to get your coffee.
