I am giving this restaurant a dismal rating NOT based on the food, which is in fact quite wonderful (possibly the best in the city), but because of the atmosphere and attitude. It is a suburban branch of a top-notch restaurant in Vieux Montreal. It is hidden away in an obscure corner of a small suburban shopping centre, and possesses an unfathomable Hindi or Urdu name (a song lyric), impossible for Canadians to remember. To enjoy the food, I suggest that you order out, and avoid dining here. The Sikh chef is superb, and always scales the food appropriately to the heat level that I request (really spicy!). The portions are generous and the menu is all-encompassing. So what is the problem? Well minor issues first -- in the winter, they keep the place so cold that I have to put my overcoat and scarf back on to eat my dinner. If someone comes through the front door, I am hit with the cold from outside -- I learned to take a table at the far end, even though it was inconvenient for the waitress (very few people actually dine here -- it is mainly take-out and delivery). The plates are not designed for a single eater, and I always need a doggy bag (though I have no oven at home!). They will not give you a half-order. Yesterday I went there to dine after anticipating it all day (I had just read Gordon Ramsay's book on food in India.) I asked the waitress where I should sit. A black guy, obviously the delivery guy, was slouched comfortably at a front table and jokingly told me -- anywhere I liked. So I sat close to the front to make life easier for the waitress. This guy was endlessly yapping on his cellphone -- so loudly, that they could have heard him in Jamaica or Ghana -- or wherever he is from -- without the phone! When the waitress brought the menu, I thought that he would put the phone down or head outside -- but no, he just kept yammering annoyingly, thinking that he was amusing. I picked the dishes I desired, but then walked up to the desk and told the girl to forget it -- I was gone (FOREVER!) because of the discourteousness and said they had just lost $50 (and she, her tip). As I left, I told the guy he should go outside to yap, but he and the waitress did not care. I guess that they make their money on take-out, so they do not give a darn. I hope that the owner/manager (who is never there) reads this comment and fixes things -- but there are other Indian places in the area, so I shall not be back. They do not realize that this is Canada, and not chaotic Calcutta! They almost make me sorry that I voted for Mr. Singh in the federal election! Besides the fine chef, some days there is a pretty, courteous waitress working -- she is probably too young to have remedied the situation. No "shabash!" from me today!!

The food is really delicious. We ordered Veg. Thali and Samosa. The plain Naan was very good soft and tasty. It was just perfect taste with shahi Paneer. We would recommend to try other Non veg options too.
