Restaurant Le Surcouf

We have loved Surcouf for many years . Last night for my husband’s birthday was not the experience we have known and loved . Despite our reservation we arrived and our table was not ready and waited about 20 minutes after leaving and returning as we were informed it was not yet available. Although our appetizers were delicious our main course was disappointing. We have decided on Chateau brillant à la table - we’d ordered rare and it came raw . Not blue . It was heated more and still very raw . We sent my portion back to the kitchen and despite beautiful grill marks the inside remained raw and cold . It felt as if the waiter was making fun of me ordering a litchi martini repeating my order in a condescending tone . The waitress whom served our chateau brillant was cold and dry . After many years of loving this gem we will sadly not be returning after paying over 400$ and receiving better service in a pub setting .

The seared foie gras a 10/10, everything I dreamt of, one of the best. However, it all went downhill from there.

The fries that came out with the beef tartare were incredibly soggy and gross. Every single fry was an inch long or less, as if someone had scrounged up all the disgusting leftover bits in oil that should have been thrown in the trash. Not ok.

Long after I was done with my meal, the waitress said that’s how the fries normally are, and that they may have just used smaller potatoes. Lol. Never saw her after that, other than when she walked by and just cleared my glass of wine away without asking if I’d like another or if I’d like dessert/the bill.

I asked for my check from the hostess as the waitress acknowledged every table around me, except for mine, and I proceeded to wait 20 min without any help. I literally had to get up from my seat and wait at the hostess stand to pay and leave. The service literally pissed me off and left a horrible taste.

We had a romantic New Year's dinner and it was once again an excellent meal. The welcome, decor and service are second to none. The quality, presentation and temperature of the dishes were more than very good. We will repeat next year.

As soon as I arrived at Le Surcouf restaurant, I was charmed by the warm and professional welcome from the team. Every detail seemed thought out to make this evening memorable. The attention paid to customers is remarkable: a sincere smile, a kind word, and a friendly atmosphere that immediately makes you want to sit down.

Always at its best during Christmas time, Le Surcouf is magnificently decorated for a most festive atmosphere while remaining chic.
We had the veal chop with wild mushrooms and the seafood risotto. It's exquisite.
