Excellent dishes, decent prices and large servings.
Service was super friendly but got slow after we recieved our main course.
We would have loved more drinks (without having to ask), maybe dessert and more efficient clean up.
The restaurant was busy so it could have been a management issue of being understaffed.
Overall, truly authentic and delicious, fresh food.

Long time clients, food always very good. No MSGs. Inside and outside possible. Teriyaki sizzling plate with lots of vegetables plus beef, chicken or shrimps. A delightful meal...

We got there a little early in order to not be late for the festival des arts. Waited 15 minutes on the sidewalk as instructed by waitress and signs. Once seated, we advised we were somewhat in a rush to be at an event. She basically replied in not so many words “ too bad so sad”. No sense of prioritization and no flexibility and wanting to be of service. We waited 45 minutes to be told they were short of grillades plates. We paid for our bottle of wine and left as we were already running late. Overall, waitress was somewhat nervous l and unpleasant overall and not very much at l’écoute de leur clients. Not a good experience aside from feeling tipsy from the white wine and no food. Very rigid…. cannot comment on the food but dining isn’t just about the food right? Overall experience from beginning to end, 3/10

The chicken and shrimp were nice. I wouldn't say it was thai or viet food.

Tonkinoise is a must-visit family-owned Vietnamese restaurant that offers excellent service in both the front and back of the house. The atmosphere is cozy and warm, making it the perfect spot for a relaxing meal or takeout. Some of my personal favorites include the flavorful beef noodle bowl, the refreshing Thai mango salad, the aromatic pho, and the delightful peanut butter chicken. Each dish is crafted with care and bursting with flavor. If you’re looking for a fantastic dining experience, Tonkinoise is the place to be! Highly recommended!

Service was soso- they had an entire section with no one open but sat us next to other filled tables. They wanted to keep that section open because it’s easier for them to walk through. The pho was delicious and the imperial rolls looked homemade and looked good. I had ordered the green curry and it was not good in terms of flavour and heat. It was watered down and the veggies were not sautéed in the curry long enough. It was not spicy at all.
Others did not enjoy their meal either. The soups are good. We did not try dessert- but they did look good.

We have dined here before but were very disappointed on Saturday, April 12th. We went early and the place was very crowded. Terrace was closed. Tables and chairs are very near each other. The waiter misunderstood. I ordered soup. He offered extra veggies but didn't mention a charge. He brought a plate but I thought he meant extra veggies in the soup. Wouldn't take it back. The General Tao chicken was dry. The dumplings were good, but small. When we paid the bill, we realized that they also overcharged on the tip. They calculated the percentage on the total including including taxes, which they are not supposed to do. Will not return.

I went to this restaurant for the first time.
I was really craving beef pho soup.
Still good overall except that I found the broth too sweet and that it did not have the usual accompaniments (lime, bean sprouts and Thai basil)
The young people who were serving were really friendly.
I'll come back and try another dish!

I don't usually leave this type of comment, but I think it's worth it. We love this place for the food, which is excellent. On the other hand, the service leaves something to be desired. We arrived at 7:40 on a Thursday evening during the holiday season and were greeted by a stressed waitress who told us it was very late to be seated since the kitchen closed at 8:30. We decided to stay anyway, having no other plans for dinner. The 30 minutes that followed were frankly indigestible, due to the waitress who wanted to make us feel that the restaurant was closing and that we were disturbing. It’s a shame, since it’s a place that we really love for authentic and delicious Tonkinese soup.

Excellent food, but as for the service, and especially in terms of communication with a particular waitress, well, the exchanges were heavy and infantilized. Attitude, stubbornness, morale, stubbornness and devaluation. This waitress shows blatant disrespect and as a customer, you are not right! Fortunately, this does not reflect the rest of the employees.
