Food and service was excellent. The place was extremely loud. I requested the Prohibition Room because it is billed as being more intimate and quiet. The room was not open and we were seated in the main dining room. I would like to have been told beforehand that the Prohibition Room wasn't open, then I could have decided if I wanted to keep the reservation or at least request a table in a more quiet area of the main dining room.
We enjoyed a very nice dining experience the entire evening. The meals were delicious. Prime rib cooked to perfection.
We have been here many times our meals are always great and the service is fantastic. We especially like that we can get a salad in place of fries so we can be a little bit healthy well enjoying amazing food!
Welcoming ,friendly staff starting with owners hubbie, great chef, great meal, generous pour on wine, well lighted parking lot = A+
The food and cocktails were on point. We had the roasted Brussels sprouts and bacon wrapped scallops for appetizers. The scallops were smaller and lacked a good sear and the bacon lacked a good crisp, but the flavor of the scallops was fresh and sweet. The Brussels sprouts were a good size portion, tender, crisp and flavorful. Three of us had the Chicken Cordon Bleu and found it to be juicy, flavorful and a perfectly done preparation of this dish. I had the beef Wellington and would highly recommend. However, what really set this dinner apart was the absolutely impeccable service. The waitstaff was always right there to refill water glasses, provide fresh plates and cutlery as needed, take orders, etc but never hovered. At the conclusion of the meal, they were quick to bring our bill, quick to pick up payment and provide receipt, yet we never felt rushed to leave. They even refilled our water glasses after we had paid, making us fell welcome to linger and chat. It is rare to experience this level of hospitality outside of Europe and for this reason we will be back and I would highly recommend to anyone wanting to actually dine with friends.
This was our first visit to The General Stanton Inn. The owners updated the Inn making it still have the atmosphere of a country inn with comfortable seating . The menu selections were very good as was the food preparatrion and service. We will definitely be returning for other dining experiences. They have many differnet expereiences to offer as was noted in the menu.
We went for Christmas Eve dinner. We got a beautiful table in the Narragansett Room (fireplace and only 2 tables) the food was all perfect, the cocktails were great, the service was wonderful and everyone was so nice! We all agreed (4 adults) that this was our favorite Christmas Eve dinner out yet.
Good live music if a little loud in a small space. Enjoyable at the bar but difficult to talk over in the restaurant attached. Service very friendly and food was really good. Overall, excellent evening.
We had a lovely dinner with my wife, sister, and brother-in -law. We ordered the delicious out of this world garlic bread tower as one of our three appetizers. The Brussels sprouts and the crab and asparagus were also very tasty. My short rib ravioli entree was served with lots of gravy - perfect for the garlic bread. The others had the pork schnitzel, the grilled chicken risotto, and the sirloin steak sandwich. Lots of smiles as our entrees disappeared. We were on the beautiful Narragansett room which has two tables. It was nice to have dinner in a quiet place. Our server, Ivana, was excellent providing prompt and friendly service. We highly recommend the General Stanton Inn.
A great place with great service and delicious food! A sweet spot tucked along Rt 1 - an iconic surprise! Thank you, Patty & Chef!

The General Stanton Inn has really great entrees! We had the salmon served with vegetable hash that was so good! Our server was lovely.too.
What an interesting place to dine! We had been there before in the regular dining room. This time we were in the Prohibition room which is gracious and beautiful. To get there you wind through a couple of smaller rooms of great historical interest and amazing features like a colossal stone fireplace hearth. The food was great; the service was friendly and attentive; the place itself is unique and fascinating. A great experience, well worthwhile.
We spent our night at the General stand and had dinner there with friends. Excellent Meal, friendly service. A lot of history in the own part of the building.
It was our 1st time here. The food was really good. Reasonable price. Our waiter was very nice and knowledgeable about the inn and its history. It's a cool place to visit and eat. Would recommend for a date night spot.
Great service there were 4 of us and 3 loved their meals I had panko chicken that was way over cooked The cod very good and the short rib dish was as well Nice bar area well give it another go at a later date. Wine is fairly pricey but they have a nice selection.
