The General Stanton Inn Hotel

We had a lovely dinner with my wife, sister, and brother-in -law. We ordered the delicious out of this world garlic bread tower as one of our three appetizers. The Brussels sprouts and the crab and asparagus were also very tasty. My short rib ravioli entree was served with lots of gravy - perfect for the garlic bread. The others had the pork schnitzel, the grilled chicken risotto, and the sirloin steak sandwich. Lots of smiles as our entrees disappeared. We were on the beautiful Narragansett room which has two tables. It was nice to have dinner in a quiet place. Our server, Ivana, was excellent providing prompt and friendly service. We highly recommend the General Stanton Inn.

The General Stanton Inn has really great entrees! We had the salmon served with vegetable hash that was so good! Our server was lovely.too.

What an interesting place to dine! We had been there before in the regular dining room. This time we were in the Prohibition room which is gracious and beautiful. To get there you wind through a couple of smaller rooms of great historical interest and amazing features like a colossal stone fireplace hearth. The food was great; the service was friendly and attentive; the place itself is unique and fascinating. A great experience, well worthwhile.

We spent our night at the General stand and had dinner there with friends. Excellent Meal, friendly service. A lot of history in the own part of the building.

It was our 1st time here. The food was really good. Reasonable price. Our waiter was very nice and knowledgeable about the inn and its history. It's a cool place to visit and eat. Would recommend for a date night spot.

Great service there were 4 of us and 3 loved their meals I had panko chicken that was way over cooked The cod very good and the short rib dish was as well Nice bar area well give it another go at a later date. Wine is fairly pricey but they have a nice selection.

This is one of our favorite restaurants. The quality of the food is excellent and the service is always great. It can get noisy but not ever terrible.

We had a fantastic time during our reservation. The staff were amazing, the food was delicious, and the ambience was truly one of a kind. We look forward to future visits out to the Inn!

The food was good, except for the clam cakes. They were over fried, almost burnt, and greasy. Not a big selection for brunch items. The flea market was suppose to be open, one of the reasons we decided to go there. But , despite the big open sign outside, and on the website, they decided to wait on having it until there was a bigger summer crowd.

Great food, great service, honestly my favorite restaurant in Charlestown; we have previously sat in both the tavern and the dining room but this time we sat in a quaint small side room with a fireplace; chatted with the diners at the table next to us who were two 80 year old sisters that spent their summers as children in Charlestown and had not been back in 50 years; so we made new friends and had another great experience at General Stanton.

We were welcomed at arrival and offered our choice of seating.we arrived at 2 pm and we were offered the lunch menu. We were told the dinner menu was available after 4 pm. There was still a good selection to choose from. We had the French Onion soup which was very good. I had the fish sandwich and my husband and friend had the hamburger. All were very good. Would like to go back during the dinner hours to try the evening menu.

All the staff was so friendly and made sure we felt welcome. They went above and beyond to make our short stay special.

The Inn is a very special place, very historic and beautifully restored keeping the integrity of the original attributes. Our food was fantastic, so tasty with perfect size portions! Our service was awesome- very attentive, friendly and accommodating. We recommend with all stars!

Our meals were , for the most part, “okay”. My baked stuffed shrimp could have had much more flavor, mashed potatoes room temp; one salmon dish dry, other cod dish with mashed potatoes just warm. The onion soup and coconut shrimp appetizers good. Yvonne was an excellent server.
