Order was messed up not the first time either and major attitude given.
the lady taking your order always has a funky attitude and passive aggressive demeanor..
no smiles, “thank you” ‘s, or anything that could even slightly resemble professional customer service.
you’d hope to get someone else taking your order
food is okay, syrup flavored drinks have no flavor and are always watered down since they add the ice last.

Mostly just reviewing for food quality. Drinks are good however, a recent food order kinda leaves me uncertain that proper sanitary/food quality assurance steps are missing.
Family member got a breakfast sandwich. Thought it smelled off and sure enough the bottom piece of the sandwich was covered in mold. Brought it back and issued refund. Staff member claimed they were experiencing problems with the fridge. So, perishable food/drink product was being stored in a fridge they knew wasn’t working properly? Poor standards of you ask me. Not sure how you can just send food out like that to customers potentially getting them sick then say they’re continuing to pull product from there to serve to other customers. Hope the dairy products are regularly checked before serving in drinks.

With Rhode Island cafes popping up everywhere now, like DD's on every corner of this state. You really have to be on your A game across the menu board to stand out. And us Rhode Islanders, love our breakfast around here.
I stopped in twice to Cafe Ava. First time, the line was too long, so we left and so the second time around, I was prepared to indulge.
Our take away, they're more of a specialty drink place, than the actually food. The only wow factor, is the arepa with cheese. But sandwiches? I can't say, they would be my first thought, to go to for morning bk sandwiches. Or a place I'd be willing to wait in a 20-30 minute line for again.
It is a great option to take a date or out of towners though. It's even great for a photo op or your socials, if that's what your into. But for your everyday grab and go, it's a bit pricey, for average sandwiches and dessert drinks. So it's a one hit wonder for us.
As a warning, parking is limited and the shop is small with minimal seating or standing areas. So please plan accordingly.

Absolutely excellent first visit here! We got the iced Sweet Corn Latte with whole milk & the Salted Banana Pancake cold brew. We were pleasantly surprised by both!! Sometimes flavored coffees can be way too sweet & artificial tasting, but both our coffees were perfectly sweet! My boyfriend got Papa’s Cuban and devoured it. We came in when the POS system was down but the team was adjusting well to the problem.

I’ve been following this place for months and was obsessed with the decor, the Hispanic cultural vibe, and the reels they post everything looked amazing! I finally decided to try it out, but honestly, my experience didn’t match what I expected.
I can totally understand that everyone has off days, and I really tried to give them the benefit of the doubt. But customer service still matters, especially when you choose to work in a people-focused job. The woman who took our order wrote the wrong name, which isn’t a huge deal, but when we didn’t go up right away since that wasn’t the name we gave, her attitude was unnecessary.
I’m not writing this to bash anyone because I genuinely love the whole concept and hope they continue to grow as a business. The place is beautiful and has such great cultural representation, but the interaction really threw off the vibe for me. I didn’t even feel like dining in after that. Hopefully, they can work on customer service so the experience matches the amazing atmosphere they’ve created.

First time here.! I ordered an iced latte and asked for light ice. Then I saw they charged me $0.50… for less ice. Seriously? I’m being charged extra just to have fewer ice cubes? That makes zero sense. It’s not like I asked for anything fancy—just less of something. Honestly, it rubbed me the wrong way. Won’t be coming back

My reply to the owner’s comment:
- You already charged me $5.75 for the drink and $0.75 for oat milk, which I was fine with. But adding a $0.50 charge just because I asked for LESS ICE doesn’t feel reasonable , especially since I didn’t ask for more ingredients. If that’s your policy, it really should be communicated clearly at the time of ordering. Hopefully, future customers will be informed so they can choose accordingly.

I recently visited Cafe Ava and had a fantastic experience, thanks in large part to the wonderful service. The coffee was excellent and the atmosphere was cozy and inviting, but what really made my day was Samantha. She was so friendly and genuinely seemed to love her job. She gave me a great recommendation for a drink and was incredibly efficient, even though the cafe was busy. Samantha's positive energy is contagious, and she's an absolute rockstar. I will definitely be back, and I hope to see her again!
