Chose this because it was close and so we could stay in the hotel and watch football but it did not disappoint. When I called, the gentleman who answered the phone was the most chipper guy and it really set the tone. I got their Caesar salad which was enough to feed two people and the small pizza was also perfect amount for two of us! Would recommend if you’re in the area. Also loved the arcade games when I went in to pick up the pizza.

This is hands down the best delivery, “classic” pizza I’ve had in the area. We don’t do delivery pizza often, but this will be our go to for when we do! Yum!

Stopped in at checkers for lunch after seeing the neon sign advertising that they offer pizza by the slice, I ordered a pepperoni slice, 4 dollars and some change for a GIANT, delicious, crispy, New York style slice, the man behind the counter was beyond friendly, making small talk, introducing himself by name, and even brought my to go order directly to me instead of just calling out for my name, this establishment has a great retro atmosphere highlighted by free to play old school arcade games, and a tv playing the three stooges, even with a little diorama of the stooges next to the tv, definitely a great spot for a casual cheap date!! Run, don’t walk to checkers, I will 100% be back!!

I absolutely love them. I've lived here a week and I've ordered from them three times. They get busy on Saturday nights and it might be a bit of a wait but it's worth it. Plus they play The Three Stooges on the TV and they have old timey video games. Really super nice people and phenomenal pizza. I've had their regular kind and NY style - I'm partial to the NY style in general - fantastic.

We were first timers and Checkers definitely impressed. The staff was very helpful when ordering and setting our family up inside to eat. They even had free arcade games which the kids and adults both enjoyed while waiting. We got a buffalo chicken, pepperoni, and a chicken Parmesan. They were all delicious!
Took the wife to Cliff Walk yesterday and had an amazing day. We were just looking for a couple of slices on the way out of town and didn't really want to deal with downtown Newport. Checkers had very good reviews and it was on our way out if town so we stopped. Incredibly happy we did. Stepped into an old school pizza shop with an incredibly friendly and hospitable owner. Ordered 2 cheese and 2 Roni slices. Absolutely huge slices and the best NY style slices we've had in our area. Cooked to perfection, crisp undercarriage, great crust and delicious toppings. Was a great end to a great day. Can't recommend enough and we will definitely be back soon.

This place gets my Mostest Bestest star review. The owner greeted us when we walked in and took our order verbally because he was tossing some dough for a pizza and remembered the order which had 4 items. The pizza was The Best I've had and I've had a lot of pizza from a lot of places. The pizza was amazing from crust to toppings. I had also bought the garden salad and a garden was in the salad! The atmosphere takes you back in time as he as a vintage pinball machine that you can play for .25 cents and he also has 3 vintage arcade games. And while you wait you get to watch The Three Stooges and I was laughing so hard ... when Curly started shooting the oyster for stealing his crackers! Lmao ...😂😅 The pizza was so awesome went back the next day and he remembered my name! It does take about 35, 40 minutes but so worth the wait. Between the pinball and Three Stooges the time flew by. You can always call ahead.... And his menu is not all clogged up either. Pizza is the reason for this place... Oh...and the carrot cake was a great dessert.... Great experience....

Im so glad we were at the Holiday Inn and I happened to spot it on the way to post. Some of the best pizza I have ever had in my life!! Very 80s on the outside, smelled of nostalgia (if youre from the East Coast you know that pizza/hoagie shop smell. it just missed the clicking of our shoes on an old hardwood floor), the Three Stooges paraphenalia was a gem and watching it on TV was so nice, loved the 80s game machines. My spouse and I spent a few hrs there jaw jacking with the tall gentleman with eyeglasses and the shorter gentlemen with the reddish beard (so sorry! twice and we forgot to grab their names). They talked military and life. We talked about them and the pizza for the past 2 mos to anybody that could hear us. We couldnt wait to come back, so our kid could try it. They even remembered us, and the pizza was just as good. Fairly priced for the amt of toppings and homemade-ness of the pizza. OH MY WORD! RUN, Dont Walk, to Checkers!!! Hopefully, we will bring more family in some months to give it a try, as well. Thank yall for making Rhode Island a bit sweeter!!!
