We held our grandmother’s funeral repast here. The service was prompt and attentive, and the food was incredible—from the kids’ chicken tenders to the baked scrod and the carrot cake. It was really lovely to be taken care of so well on an emotional day and to view the beautiful scenery of my grandmother’s hometown.
We enjoyed our dinners (scrod entree (green beans and rice pilaf) and a fried chicken sandwich w/fries coleslaw. Service was prompt and our waitress was very cordial.
Stayed at the Wyndham where restaurant is on the ground level. There are separate dining rooms and a bar area. Great service, friendly bar and waitress staff. Wend there for late night drinks followed by breakfast. I had the “breakfast Sandwich”, a BEC on a Croissant with home fries while she had “the classic”, two eggs with home fries along with a side of the fruit cup and coffee. Everything was tasty, on a late Monday AM, we were one of two tables being served but I heard that the early morning it gets very busy.
Definitely not worth it. Food was not good at all and for the high price, better to go in town! Live music was great but that was it. Lobster had no flavor except a really bad aftertaste. Didn't eat it. Calamari was too heavy of a batter and plastic cup of marinara give with it - for the price it's not at all what you would expect. Were out of multiple items on menu at 7p. Stuffed shrimp weren't shelled well so I ate part of it on a couple and just a big heap of breading on them. Would not recommend or go back.
The most wonderful clam cakes like no other. Fabulous homemade bread
We visited for the Mother's Day Brunch and it was great. The staff were very attentive and helpful. The pre-set menu was better than anticipated. It was great variety for a value . We would definitely rsvp again.
Food was great $35 for the quantity and quality of food offered on Mother's Day brunch buffet was great value. However when me and my brother end up clearing the plates from our table and then are forced to a 20% gratiuity for a party of 6, thats a bit outlandish. 20% on a buffet service is high as it is, let alone when Im clearing my own table and drinks weren't ordered.
Went here on our first night in Newport. Food was amazing and the service was great!! I loved how awesome and kind the servers were. They were knowledgeable and punctual. Highly recommend.
Good Restaurant in a hotel. The waitress was smiley and kind. We had omelette and avocado toast and they were ok
overall, the food was well prepared and buffet dishes were kept filled. As has been typical since day 1, the noise level was excessive. Having a seating at 3pm , toward the end of the Easter brunch, desserts were minimal, muffins and blond brownies only. Had to ask for creamers for coffee, and our checks. There was no rushing us out, but staff were just waiting around our table for cleanup. My suggestion is get an earlier reservation time. Food was excellent but noise level was very detracting.

Efficient service, excellent variety of food options. Perfect for a large group holiday meal. Very well staffed. Easy in, easy out.
Everything was great except the noise. We 3 tables placed together in the glass room for party of 8. Plenty of space for us. 2 hours was a great time limit. But we couldn't hear family at the other end of those 3 tables. Noise in that room from everybody just carried too much. Gram just looked disinterested because it was exhausting her trying to hear. Grams not hard if hearing. Only 75 People at the other end couldnt hear either. Not sure if the larger room where good was served is easier to hear not bring closer in. I don't know. I just felt bad. But everybody loved the food and your wait staff was phenomenal. I tipped her extra well. Knowing the tip was in the bill.
Johnny's is a local gem, in that it combines a very reliable restaurant with lots of live contemporary music. The restaurant space is large and is partially walled off from the bar and the music. But one hears the music well. We had scrod and boiled lobster, both well prepared and with good sides. A moderately extensive wine list, plus a page of innovative cocktails. Worthy of note was the service by experienced ladies -- pleasant and efficient. Another plus: ample parking, making this a very attractive alternative to downtown options on busy nighs.
Great food and service, super convenient.
Nice location. Not too crowded on a Friday night.
