Johnny's Restaurant at the Wyndham Newport Hotel

overall, the food was well prepared and buffet dishes were kept filled. As has been typical since day 1, the noise level was excessive. Having a seating at 3pm , toward the end of the Easter brunch, desserts were minimal, muffins and blond brownies only. Had to ask for creamers for coffee, and our checks. There was no rushing us out, but staff were just waiting around our table for cleanup. My suggestion is get an earlier reservation time. Food was excellent but noise level was very detracting.

Efficient service, excellent variety of food options. Perfect for a large group holiday meal. Very well staffed. Easy in, easy out.

Everything was great except the noise. We 3 tables placed together in the glass room for party of 8. Plenty of space for us. 2 hours was a great time limit. But we couldn't hear family at the other end of those 3 tables. Noise in that room from everybody just carried too much. Gram just looked disinterested because it was exhausting her trying to hear. Grams not hard if hearing. Only 75 People at the other end couldnt hear either. Not sure if the larger room where good was served is easier to hear not bring closer in. I don't know. I just felt bad. But everybody loved the food and your wait staff was phenomenal. I tipped her extra well. Knowing the tip was in the bill.

Johnny's is a local gem, in that it combines a very reliable restaurant with lots of live contemporary music. The restaurant space is large and is partially walled off from the bar and the music. But one hears the music well. We had scrod and boiled lobster, both well prepared and with good sides. A moderately extensive wine list, plus a page of innovative cocktails. Worthy of note was the service by experienced ladies -- pleasant and efficient. Another plus: ample parking, making this a very attractive alternative to downtown options on busy nighs.

Food was incredible. Service is beyond awful, I've had better service at McDonald's. Valentines night date, two servers apparently both think we are in the others “zone”, so both ignore us for 30+ minutes before even taking our order or acknowledging us, just keep walking right past a table of two who clearly haven't received any service, then she outright tell us they forgot about us, and then does absolutely zero to do anything for us about it. Then we wait another 30+ minutes for our food. Pretty expensive place to be treated like that, my date was more frustrated than anything. Also, don't bother asking servers any questions about the menu, they don't have a clue about any of it either. Worst “upscale” experience I've ever been to, not worth the 15% tip I left either. Wanted to give her even less. Usually would tip even higher. What a drag.

Valentines couple dinner prix fix $120 plus 20% gratuity added in at payment . App- clams casino, dinner- 2 scallops2 baked stuff shrimp 2 lamb lollipops and beef tenderloin with fingerling potatoes and carrots . Passion fruit crème brûlée The food was excellent ! Nice presentation, bottle of wine merlot delicious! Just a suggestion that they should offer 2 desserts for that price -odd to only offer one so the other person would have to pay extra . Also coffee was $4 for 1 cup should be included. Tweak these things and you have total satisfaction .. Great job to the chef

We were staying at the Wyndam and wanted a convenient place to eat so we chose Johnny's. We were pleasantly surprised at how delicious and creative the food was. We had the warm burrata to start and the salmon and scallops for dinner. The server and all staff were welcoming, nice and professional! Highly recommend!

Christmas Eve was busier than usual which kept the waitstaff running. When we got her attention our waitress was very personable but service was slow between courses. Mini clams casino app plus Prime Rib and Lamb Shank were the highlights from the specials. One swordfish dish was undercooked and sent back. The hot replacement dish and complimentary glass of wine were appreciated as well as the Christmas bread to take home.

I came for collations after a funeral service it was in a very nice bright room. The buffet was set up beautifully with a very nice selection of food and the service was excellent. But honestly anytime I come here everything is done well and my husband and I truly enjoyed coming here for anything. Sally

Fabulous Thanksgiving buffet dinner and dessert. And the very pretty bartenders Dawn,Erica and Tracy performed very diligently and provided the uppermost level of superior professional and personable service. They're the finest of the finest!

When we arrived, I was a little disappointed to find the restaurant was very casual, more like a cafeteria-style ambiance. And, while it was only 7 pm, a band was already playing, which made it too loud for our party of six to carry on a conversation in the dining room, which is connected to the bar and stage. However, as the night went on, we found the waitress to be very attentive and friendly and the food to be delicious. In the end, we had an enjoyable time, and while I wouldn't book this restaurant again for an upscale dining experience, I wouldn't give it a negative review either.

These scallops were one of the best we have ever enjoyed! They were cooked perfectly and the risotto was delicious, too. We enjoyed the bread pudding dessert and our bottle of wine. The view is lovely and the outdoor seating was perfect. The loyalty program is an added plus!! Our server, Jesse, was patient and very friendly. We will certainly be dining here again!

Solid breakfast choice ! We opted to stay in the hotel instead of going out and it was a good decision. The corned beef hash is so fluffy and soft I’ve never had one like this! Highly recommend. Friendly service.
