Went to get some clam cakes to see how theirs are. They were small and nasty. You could tell the oil was old. The clam cakes were greasy and burnt. The place wasn’t exactly clean either. It’s too bad because a friend referred me.

Got 2 fish sandwiches, which were serviceable. Asked about a restroom. "We don't have one." Is that even legal? They have both indoor and outdoor seating...
The outdoor seating was gross. Maybe in-between shooting the breeze and waiting on the nearly nonexistent customers, the hostess might consider wiping the tables occasionally. They were Gross, with a capital G. Besides needing wiping, the tables actually needed to be replaced. Spent nearly 50 bucks for 2 beers and the sandwiches. Won't be back.
Lobster roll is yummy. Kids like the fries. The best part? The free entertainment. Kitchen and front staff cursing at each other loudly through the open kitchen door.

Placed an online order, came about 30 minutes later to pick up. Food was for me, picked up by me. Never been before so wasn’t sure if there was a different area for pickup. Waiting in the ordering line for a few, then caught the front end staff’s eye- said I was picking up- was told very rudely I’d have to wait my turn. Ok I will wait. Several more minutes pass and I got asked my name, told not ready. The whole time I’m waiting that front end person, who I know realize is the owner was rude and aggressive towards everyone. Made the whole place feel uncomfortable and unfriendly. Then he went in the back and started yelling and swearing at kitchen staff- kids inside the place mind you and the “back” is open kitchen. He was annoyed I ordered online- hey if you don’t want to accept online orders, then don’t. A lot of places don’t and that’s fine. You are a restaurant. People order food from you- that’s how it works. Whole experience was sour and won’t be back.
** Owner replied to me, see below- I didn’t care about waiting for the food, places are busy. Did care about his attitude and rudeness. He was annoyed about takeout orders, rude in general and had an attitude that customers ordering were bothering him. But I guess that was just in my head. Silly me.

We went last night and got a lobster roll and fish and chips. Both were very good. The fried fish is, in my opinion, how it should be served. With a light fry so you can actually taste the fish. The lobster roll had a hint of lemon in the mix and wasn’t drowning in mayo. Iggy’s is right around the corner and they’re ok, but I actually like Benny’s better. Also, the line to order wasn’t a mile long.

The food we had was average, the chowder was like a dill salt chowder, the guy that took the order had an attitude, I can see why the parking lot is empty on a nice Saturday beach day at 4 pm. Wish I read the reviews.

"We stumbled upon Benny's Clam Shack, a charming little white and red roadside eatery, and decided to give it a try. It turned out to be a pleasant surprise! My wife ordered the clam strips and thoroughly enjoyed them, declaring she'd definitely return for more. I opted for a bacon cheeseburger, which exceeded my expectations in both quality and flavor. The burger was well-seasoned and absolutely delicious. Even the French fries were perfectly seasoned and tasty. We'll certainly be coming back to this hidden gem!"

A bit on the expensive side if you don't go during lunch. Delicious regardless. The chowder was a bit on the saltier side but was still really good. It's not far from Iggy's. We came here because the line at Iggy's was INSANE..we found it off the road on the way to camp Cronin. The wait was a little long but it was very busy when we went at 630pm. They bring the food right out to you, we got it to go. Will definitely visit again.
