Our experience was 10/10. I see why this establishment is so highly rated! From easy parking, to no wait time to be seated/served, to the best Manhattan I’ve had! Our waiter E’san was excellent & full of great energy. Very personable young man whom we highly recommend. His knowledge of the menu was immaculate. His recommendation of the Veal Spain was spot on. My wife enjoyed the Paella Marinara he recommended to her. Unfortunately, we didnt have space for the Tres Leches dessert he recommended, but next time we’ll give it a try & give him our review! Will be returning & requesting this young man!
High quality Spanish restaurant. Great seafood dishes.

Absolutely polished dining experience. Food was outstanding. The waiters really hustle in this place. Very well mannered. Very knowledgeable. Zero regrets for making this an anniversary dinner spot. You will see me again.

I have been here two years in a row for my dad's birthday, and it doesn't disappoint. I had the stuffed salmon with mashed potatoes. It was so delicious. The calamari is also yummy. The wait staff is so pleasant and accommodating. I can't wait to return.

Wow. Absolutely blown away. The ambiance, wait staff, and food were spectacular!
Highly recommended. So many options. The specials were aplenty! It is almost overwhelming, haha. I guess we are going back, soon!
Seriously though, there is something for everyone! Steak, chicken, seafood, meatless, the flavors are incredible, you won’t be disappointed!

I have to say that it's baffling to me that so many people give this restaurant a four or five star review. It's not even in the ballpark. As a number of others have mentioned, this is a restaurant that seems to be resting on laurels of long ago.
We have been coming to Narragansett over the past 7 years or so, and have heard many times that we need to eat at Spain, but hadn't until this trip. As background, we are a family that eats out often (probably too much) and are just as happy at a good burger joint or clam-shack as we are at fine dining establishments. We looked forward to our dinner, but to say we were underwhelmed would be putting it mildly.
Let's start with the decor. You would think that being a stone's throw from the Atlantic ocean that there would be some sort of coastal vibe. Not even a little. There seemed to be nothing in the design that had anything to do with Spain, or the ocean that is 100 yards away. Instead, they seem to have opted for a 1980's vibe, complete with tables and chairs taken off the set of Roseanne. I'm not sure what was tackier, the mix and max rattan chairs, the stained carpeting, or the cascading water running down the front wall of the restaurant that would be more at home in a Las Vegas hotel room with a mirror on the ceiling. But my thought was, if the interior is this dated, and they still have these good reviews, the food must be out of this world. Well...
Our server was informative, though certainly not overflowing with personality, and she shared with us the specials and was prompt enough throughout our dinner. We started with drinks, and although our ten-year-old loved his lemonade, my wife's cosmopolitan had essentially no alcohol in it, and my cocktail tasted like an Arizona iced tea out of a can, again with not a hint of alcohol. Oh, well, onto the appetizer. We went with fried zucchini flowers, which sounded great, as we have had them before and loved them. These were so heavily battered and fried that the zucchini flower was non-existent, not to mention that they were oddly tasteless as well. Not a stellar beginning, and our hope was waning.
My son ordered the linguini with clams, and really liked it. We both tried it as well, and it was tasty. But, that is also a pretty tough one to mess up. I ordered a dish called chicken of Spain, and it was a breast of chicken that was stuffed with ham, cheese, and some lobster. There was maybe one or two pieces, and as other reviewers have written it tasted rubbery and not fresh. My wife ordered a special that was shrimp, scallops, and lobster in a red vodka sauce. I'm not sure how that dish could be made to taste bland, but it did. When I took a bite, it honestly reminded me of eating spaghetti-o's as a kid. And while I loved them, I don't expect that flavor profile in a $40 dish.
We both commented that we couldn't remember the last time we were at what was considered a "good" restaurant and we both reached for the salt shaker numerous times. Neither of us fully finished our meals, and as we left we were both taken aback a bit and how this place seems to be lauded and how it couldn't even rise to the level of being average. Neither of us are picky eaters, and we fully enjoy our dining out the vast majority of the time, but this was simply not good.
After reading some of the other negative reviews, it made more sense. I think that's why the restaurant sends out an email the day after your visit that directs you to an external site where you can leave your review, that way they can weed out the less than glowing ones.

Spain of Narragansett continues to excel in all aspects when considering food, service, and atmosphere. I have had many dishes on their menu including the many additional specials they offer. Each time, Spain of Narragansett never fails to impress. I have been here with my family on multiple occasions and we’ve been provided the best service, the best recommendations, and we all love the atmosphere. If you are looking for a mix of different Mediterranean tastes, this is the place for you. There is nothing that I have to complain about making this one of the best restaurants in Narragansett! (If not the best one)

I took my girlfriend out last night for a romantic dinner date to Spain (Narragansett) and they were spot on with everything. She has never been before and she absolutely loved everything as did I. The staff was very friendly from the hostess right down to our waiter Derek who absolutely nailed it with his service and friendly personality. I highly recommend going there for any occasion if you have never gone before.
