The vibe was chill, relaxed and welcoming. Our waitress was knowledgeable about the menu and appropriately attentive. The short rib sandwich special was amazing! The meat was melt-in-your-mouth scrumptious and the roll was toasted and dry, not an easy task. Fries were crisp and just salty enough. The bread pudding dessert was delicious. Perfect destination on a cold, stormy night. Can't wait to return!

Food was terrific as usual. The kitchen is happy to make dietary subs., Food is very good and nice wine list.

Server didn't ask my husband for a drink order...only me. She was nice but didn't seem very knowledgeable about the menu. I ordered the special (sticky ribs), and our server stated it came with snap peas. Not only did it not come with snap peas as expected (and I was told by someone else that it did not, then the server stated again it did) but the meat was ice cold. After I sent it back, someone came out with a plate of just snap peas. (??) My husband ordered short ribs - it looked like congealed slop and was luke warm. We expressed our displeasure and they were very kind about it, but it is unlikely we will be back.

We liked the vibe there and the unique menu for the Naragansett area. Short Ribs and steak frites are very good, as are the chicken dishes & homemade Chips. Good drink menu, nice people. Highly recommended for families and younger crowds.

Service was good... food just meh. Felt it was overpriced for what was delivered. Sound level was quite loud... at one point we couldn't carry on a conversation at our table!

It took forever to get a round of drinks. Two were wrong and had to go back. Then it took even longer to get them remade. It didn't seem that busy.

Phenomenal place! Food was terrific, service was amazing, and everyone in my party loved it! I was shocked how good the food was! This was a real chef with heart and soul. Give it a try!

We had such a wonderful experience staying at The Surf Shack! The vibe of the hotel was laid-back yet stylish, the rooms were comfortable and clean, and the staff made me feel right at home. Dining at the bar was a highlight of my trip. The crispy island steamed buns were absolutely delicious—light, flavorful, and something I'll be craving again soon. The calamari was perfectly cooked and seasoned, easily one of the best I've had. And the cocktails? Creative, refreshing, and spot-on for the coastal setting. Every drink felt carefully crafted and matched the fun, beachy atmosphere. Overall, The Surf Shack is a perfect combination of a relaxing hotel and a lively bar with fantastic food and drinks. I can't wait to come back!

Noise level was high. the scallops were cloyingly sweet and the salmon dry. The waitresses seemed to always be asking us if they could clear in spite of the fact that we were still eating. In summary we will not return.

Love the location and have been a few times. Went back last night and it is not the same as it was. The food was good, not great as it has been. The bread look like it was ripped from the loaf and it was stale. My chicken was flavorful, but the entire dish was cold when served. Ribeye ordered but looked like a steak from Texas Road House. Didn't have the mkt fish on the menu because as stated” we didn't order it”. Hopefully can rebound and become a hidden jewel once again.

The server had no clue! Did not know anything about the menu. They gave us some weird banana rum mix to put on stale bread. In general, I cannot recommend this restaurant.

Had the best time at Surf Shack! Our waitress Debbie was phenomenal - she was attentive, helpful with our questions, and took an allergy at our table very seriously. Our food and drinks came quickly and were all amazing. The mezcal fresca was delicious - the hibiscus foam was the perfect garnish. For food we tried the Gansett Ave Corn, Brussels Sprouts, Simply Grilled Salmon and Shrimp Pad Thai. Each bite was better than the last! We sat outside on the deck and really enjoyed our evening as the sun was setting. Parking was easy, too. The perfect location, a great meal, and awesome service - can’t wait to come back!

I never write these; the appetizer (brussel sprouts) and soup were delicious and came out timely, off to a great start! However, it went downhill from there; it took over an hour for our entrees to arrive. We all had simply cooked fish and both the swordfish and salmon were very overcooked. Our server was extremely inattentive, and even more upsetting was the manager walked by us on numerous occasions and never touched our table when it was quite apparent, we weren't happy campers. Restaurant was maybe at half capacity, therefore difficult to even blame it on traffic/customer volume. Very disappointed, we are 20+ yr Narragansett natives and sad to report we will not be back.

I can't say enough good things about brunch here — it was an absolute delight from start to finish. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, with just the right mix of cozy and lively. Whether you're catching up with friends or enjoying a slow solo morning, it's the perfect spot.

The food? Incredible. Every dish was beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. The ingredients tasted fresh and thoughtfully sourced, and the portions were generous without being overwhelming.

Service was top-notch: friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. And don’t even get me started on the drinks — the bloody mary was a game-changer.

If you're a brunch lover, this place is a must. I’ll definitely be back (probably next weekend)!

It was a lively crowd, mostly locals. Food was excellent and reasonably priced. We were seated near the bar which was a little noisy.
