We rented out The Surf Shack for a brunch celebration the day after our wedding, and had the best time! We worked directly with Ali and she was super responsive and made everything happen seamlessly. The food & drinks were delicious and the staff were super communicative, friendly, and helpful every step of the way. We had our brunch on a Monday when they are usually closed and highly recommend it for anyone looking for a local spot to celebrate with a fun vibe and top quality food!

This past summer we hosted our rehearsal dinner at The Kitchen at the Shack. My first experience was brunch with a friend just before Valentine’s Day in 2024. It was so good that I decided I needed to go back on valentines day with my fiancée. He too agreed that it was a phenomenal experience and delicious fare. So as we were enjoying our meal we got to talking about hosting our rehearsal dinner there. It was a great location for us and of course we wanted to impress our guests with a rehearsal dinner that felt quintessential Rhode Island.
When we got to planning Ali was with us every step of the way. She was very accommodating to our requests and just overall very pleasant to work with. Our dinner was a hit with our guests, with many complements on both food and drink. The table scape was beautiful and the atmosphere a perfect blend of upscale and surf chic. Guests said they would love to go back so naturally we thought of Surf Shack as the perfect locals Christmas gift. We can’t wait to go back when they reopen after their winter break.

We booked the Surf Shack for our rehearsal dinner in August 2024 and it was the perfect start to our wedding weekend! Ali and all of the Surf Shack team were great communicating up to our event date and supporting the day of. Chef Momo made a fantastic three course meal that had options for a variety of dietary restrictions. We couldn’t have asked for a better venue and staff! We love going back to visit and will continue to do that for years and years, it’s truly the most special place!

We had our rehearsal dinner here this fall and it was nothing short of fabulous. From the atmosphere, to our own bartender making fabulous drinks, to the incredible food, it was just perfect. Ali was our event planner and did a fabulous job. We were even able to do a food sampling prior to the dinner which was delicious. We enjoy coming here for dinner and drinks on the regular as well. The food and drink are just top notch and the vibe is beachy and beautiful. Highly recommend!

Myself and my husband stayed here on NYE as a treat to ourselves as we rarely get out. The place was lovely. Well kept up. The room was very comfortable and clean with some thoughtful touches. However it lacked a lamp and whatever was happening on the floor above us was loud and went quite late into the evening.
I get that winter is the off season, however, we didn’t see anyone who worked here the entire time we stayed. I wrote to the manager days ahead to ask a couple of questions but never heard back. We ourselves locked the front door when we came back at 12:30AM. We were also promised breakfast but that never happened so we went out to T’s which was lovely.

Amazing B&B! Room was spacious and very clean. Breakfast had a great selection and something for everyone. The closeness to the beach makes it even better.

I have stayed here three times since they opened and every experience was 5 stars. The rooms are thoughtful and make excellent use of the space. It is a beautifully restored building with all the cool nooks and crannies of a Victorian house. The linens are so comfy and the amenities are perfect. The breakfast is yummy and offers lots of options, today there was vegetable frittata, fresh muffins, yogurt and granola and more. The bar has unique and delicious cocktails, the food is innovative and feels fancy without being stuffy. I cannot recommend this place enough. Will be back soon.
I love this restaurant and have been back numerous times. I have NEVER been disappointed! The hosts, servers and bartenders (and obviously the chef!) are all fantastic! See you again soon.

The noise level was very distracting. In addition to the crowd noise, there was a group of employees moving tables and chairs that added to the noise activity. This was our third dining experience at The Kitchen. I am not sure I would go back based on the noise level. Food was wonderful.
Beautifully designed place, with a surf theme, great vibe and bustling Friday night crowd. The apps (no pics) were the scallop ceviche and flank steak, which were very good. The entrees were, the PadThai, the Halibut and the Swordfish. The Swordfish was the best in a really nice savory broth. My Halibut was good, but dry, it really needed a nice lite coconut curry broth or something that made it more unctuous. The Pad Thai missed on all flavor components except for spicy, it was nice and spicy like I like it. It did not have notes of bitterness from the tamarind and fell short on both salty, sweet and tart (the lime helped). Noodles were cooked perfect though, it’s just too bad that it was very linear(spice only) in a dish that is customarily complex.
Will definitely return, as it’s a tremendous addition to the “small local” town restaurant scene, that seems to be skewed towards larger restaurants.

When we arrived at opening we were told that they were already out of a number of items on the menu, or there were substitutions. Once we ordered we learned there were even more items not available. The food was not cooked or seasoned as expected based on request or menu description. Also, for only 1 of 2 tables in the place, we waited about 50 minutes for food. This was our second time in since January and that visit had us telling everyone to go and try it out bc it was so good. Disappointed in the downturn.
Some things were spot on. Some things way overpriced. Bao buns overpriced. Egg rolls awesome. Small plate flank steak was excellent. Burger cam out well done not medium. No one took it off even though less than half was eaten. Server said that has been happening a lot lately. Adding bacon to burger is 2 dollars on menu , they charged us $4. No explanation. It's ok s busy street so outside on patio was loud but we wanted to be outside. Limited menu but good food. Pad Thai was excellent but a bit diff than expected.
Loved the creative food! Everything I had was excellent-Tangerine dream cocktail, crispy brussels sprouts, grilled octopus, and flourless chocolate cake. Service was pleasant. Seating on the porch was lovely.
