The sunset specials are fantastic! Our server was very sweet, attentive & the setting at our table was beautiful.
Hands down the best dinner experience on the island. The Sunset Menu at Ballard's is unbeatable — not just for the incredible value, but for the food, atmosphere, and view. I had the $20 lobster and my husband ordered the $19 filet — both were absolutely delicious, cooked perfectly, and served piping hot. The $1 oysters were fresh and briny, and we ended up ordering two dozen! We sat right on the beach just as the sun started dipping into the horizon. It felt like a vacation within a vacation. There's really nothing else like it — toes in the sand, great music playing, top-notch service, and food that rivals anything on the mainland. If you're on Block Island and don't check out Ballard's Sunset Menu, you're seriously missing out. We'll be back again and again
Amazingly good service & excellent food! The Sunset Specials - Oysters (the best!), filet & lobster were incredibly delicious Highly recommend - but go soon - it's over Sept 28! Really appreciate the complimentary delicious dessert for our 50th Anniversary 😋❤️
Really enjoyed the sunset specials they have after 7 pm. It's available after the last ferry of the evening so it was quiet in the dining room and the specials are definitely worth it.
You can spot Ballard's long before you reach Block Island. Those iconic blue cabanas are the sure sign you're in for a true VIP experience. I've been coming here for more than a decade, and if I had to sum it up in one word it would be: consistency. The service? Always top notch and reliable. The food? Exceptional every time. The vibe? Consistently perfect. For me, Ballard's is more than a destination, it's personal. My husband and I were married here 11 years ago, so staying on the property is always special. The rooms are clean, spacious, and carry a breezy, tropical feel that instantly relaxes you. What makes Ballard's truly stand out, though, is the owner, Steve. He's in a class of his own. I swear this man never leaves! He's always walking around, making sure everything is just right. On this trip, when I checked in, Sharese (one of the hostesses) was helping me with my bags. I dropped something, looked up, and there was Steve, personally picking it up, walking me to my door, and welcoming me back. That's who he is: hands-on, present, and genuinely committed to ensuring every guest feels appreciated. Now let's talk about the food, OMG! I live for the lobsters here. This season, Steve introduced The Sunset Special. A whole lobster or filet for just $20. Yes, $20! What a deal. On our second night, we had dinner for nine, six adults, and four out of six chose the lobster. We're still talking about how good it was. Ballard's is woven into our story, and every visit feels like coming home. Whether you're stopping in for dinner, spending the day, or staying overnight, one thing is guaranteed, your presence will be valued, and you'll leave already planning your return.
Annah provided exceptional service and was very attentive and kind to our large party! Food is decent for a touristy spot. The 'security' to get into the restaurant is unnecessarily aggressive, accusing us of hiding alcohol in a wagon where kids were sitting. We had nothing to hide and security seemed disappointed that we were willing to go inside and purchase overpriced drinks. They also seemed pretty annoyed that we did in-fact have reservations lol. It felt very much like they were looking for any reason to turn us away. If I was in a bind and needed food, I would eat here again. But it would not be my top choice based on the interactions to get in the door.
Everyone was so amazing ! The above and beyond attention we got from everyone was amazing !!!!
I cannot remember at time where my wife and I were treated so well. Our server G, could not have been better, nicer or more attentive. Both shift managers came to our table to make sure everything was up to their standards, Ballards went above and beyond. The one negative, we moved to the bar after dinner, order two drinks that came to $26, gave the server, not G, $40.00 and never received change. Oversight I am sure. Added bonus, was the live music. We will be back for sure!
Food was pretty good, environment was nice and quiet. Live music was very nice and enjoyable. Service was a little slow. Steve the owner quickly addressed an issue that we had. Very good communication on his end.
Hannah from South Africa was an amazing server and food and drinks.... Amazing and flavorful

Annah was our server. We sat outside on the covered patio at sunset. The food was amazing but Annah and the staff treated us like family. We loved our dinner, the beautiful patio, the acoustic music inside, our beverages... everything! Gold star!
The staff - Rochelle, especially - were phenomenal! The food was delicious. The view was incomparable. If you're in Block Island, go. Now. Like, right now. ❤️
Fabulous location, food and service O ur server “G” was THE BEST server that we have had in recent memory! Outstanding service, personality and professionaism. I can not say enough regarding the success of our trip in large part due to her attentive service!!!! Highly recommend!
Out of this world experience from the second the host welcomed us to leaving the restaurant. The staff and management went out of there way to be sure that all of our needs were taken care of. Absolutely would recommend to anyone that wants to go to dinner in a fun energetic environment with amazing workers and food!
It's a great venue, lots of fun, the wait staff was excellent, especially Arie. However, the food was awful. The lobster roll was totally dry, a cheeseburger was cold, the salmon was slimy.
