Ernie’s is one of those no-frills breakfast joints that’s clearly earned its place in the hearts of both locals and early-rising visitors. It’s not trying to be trendy, it’s not overthinking things — and that’s exactly what makes it work.

You walk in and you know right away: this is a spot that’s been around long enough to know breakfast. Friendly staff, a cozy diner-style setup, and food that shows up hot and just the way you ordered it. By the time we were heading out, there was a solid crowd waiting for tables — always a good sign when the locals are willing to wait.

I got exactly what I was in the mood for — nothing fancy, just satisfying, well-cooked breakfast classics. The kind of place where eggs are eggs, coffee is coffee, and everything feels just a little better because you’re on Block Island.

If you’re looking for modern twists and avocado toast with edible flowers, this isn’t it. But if you want a solid, satisfying breakfast in a place that feels like part of the island’s rhythm — Ernie’s is the spot.

Great pancakes but should have natural butter and real Maple syrup, even if there is an extra charge.

Great place for all of your breakfast and lunch needs, between the great service and food, you can't go wrong.

After being seated we waited 15 minutes for the one server to come to the table.
The sausage and gravy looked like dog food upon presentation. It had absolutely no taste. The waitress was quite rude.
The staff needs more training

Unfortunate because the location was amazing, seating was delightful and the friendly faces were appreciated. Food was mediocre, service was inattentive… hard to really balance out the good and the bad of my visit..

Was told by waitress they were out of what I wanted prior to ordering. So I ordered something different, ten minutes later I was told they were out of that too. Biggest problem I had was them doing construction while open. Hammers, drills, impact guns from the floor above and below literally shaking the place and so Loud someone in my party with autism had to cover their ears.

Walked in with some of my buddies and sat down. The waitress came over to take our orders. The waitress took all of my friends orders but didn’t take mine. I had to remind her that I was sitting here too…
