This is the fun place, not the silent place, its activity, some alcohol use, you will hear music -from who knows where, and if that's for you, then this is the spot. You can get to an ice cream shop right on the dock. Boats are rafted to each other in a know your neighbor way. The vibe and unstated contract between the clientele is to be not especially young but act a bit so, and hurt nobody doing it. It's a nice vibe if you don't want to find your inner peace, but a real world interactions are more your cup of tea.

What a fun place to be. We came by boat and docked at Paynes. We immediately enjoyed the camaraderie of the pop up food options and the bar right on the dock. We sat for a few drinks and were soaking up the atmosphere. The boating life is amazing and Payne’s Dock is the place to be and to be seen.

My partner and I came down to BI mid June and it was our first time getting our boat down there. We were met with some gross weather, and Sands and the staff at Payne's were incredibly accommodating and friendly. We had a rough start to our trip, and it meant the world to be greeted kindly.
We stayed about a week, had friends and family visit, and had a fantastic time. The bartender who was super tall (don't recall his name unfortunately) was so sweet, really appreciated his service.
Showers and bathrooms were clean, breakfast and drinks were great. Thank you Payne's! Hopefully we'll be joining you again in the future. 😊
I spent $20 on taffy, and then a half an hour later, I went into a store, and they were selling it for $10.99 Edit: i feel like my review was a little harsh. It's still a great place, and I don't want to deter people from shopping and eating/drinking there. The docks are a very nice place on Block Island. Sorry for such a harsh review😅
