We celebrated my birthday and the food and service were incredible! So many delish dishes...the beet app, the warm olives and focaccia, the sea scallops, duck, desserts and the signature coffee drinks after dinner!! Soooooo good!!
The two appetizers we had were fantastic: foie gras and mussels. I enjoyed the duck, I also tasted the scallops and they were pretty good too. We both enjoyed the appetizers more than the main dishes. There are three dining areas: inside, the porch, and the patio. The patio is on the grass without any shade. We did not realize the sun situation prior to dinner but we're fortunate enough to be able to switch to the porch.

Great visit to 1879 at the Atlantic. The specials menu delivered with both the Chicken and the Pork being table favorites. The scallops with the pea puree from the menu was also outstanding.

Fabulous from start to finish! Even at the end of the season, the staff was incredibly friendly from the smiling hostess, to our very knowledgeable server, Sergio. And the food, just wow! The wedge and beet salads were both perfection, followed by local clams and house made focaccia (best we've had), to perfectly cooked and portioned roasted chicken (hello fall ?) and a modern twist on the classic cracker crusted cod. We didn't save room for dessert but the cocktails were also expertly made. A not to be missed dining experience on Block, see you next year!
Or service was very good. Can't beat the view and sunset. We had the little neck app which was very flavorful. I had the $51 scallops and I had 5 smaller sized scallops overcooked. And hardly any veg. Not worth the $. Hubby had the halibut Which was cooked nicely but we didn't care for the bean mixture underneath. Tasted like pea soup. We have been dying to have dinner here but dinner was a disappointment. The staff and atmosphere was lovely. Based on value, it was a one and done.
We ate on the veranda since the weather on the island for this time of year was very nice. The service there was very good. The staff was both knowledgable and attentive. The menu was on the pricey side but the food was none-the-less outstanding. The wine list was a delight and deserves it's Wine Spectator Award with a plethroa of historic wines from Europe and the U.S. Too my surprise there were bottles to fit even my meager budget. We look forward to returning there as soon as we can.
Amazing dining experience with our server Kelly. We started with a delicious farm fresh summer salad and shrimp cocktail followed by a scrumptious swordfish special. My husband had the chicken and he loved it. We have been coming to Block Island for 30 years and this was our first visit to the Atlantic inn. Loved it. We will definitely go back! Thank you!
We had dinner on the porch which was very pleasant and the views were great. They also have indoor and what the call patio dining. Patio dining is on the lawn so it's in the sun, if you want outdoor but not in the sun reserve the porch. I had the mussels and the scallops. The mussels are spectacular. They are served in soup rather than just a broth. The mussels themselves were plump and fresh but it's the soup that sets this dish apart, I wanted to lick the plate. For the main course I had the scallops. They were fine, fresh but otherwise not outstanding.
Wonderful from beginning to end! Lovely and professional service by our server Emily. The food...simply fabulous with beautiful presentation. Foie Gras, steak tartare, roasted oysters just amazing! The cheese board w/homemade peach preserve, grilled pita, berries and cream the most perfect dessert paired with a beautiful Pinot Noir. A delightful evening!
Started with a cocktail on the lawn followed by a stupendous meal. The Atlantic never disappoints! Greg & Doug (owners) are doing a fabulous job. We also had the absolute pleasure of spending some time with Rick (Mgr) when we stopped by for a cocktail a few days prior. A must in BI!

We spend our summers on Block. There is plenty of great food on this island to be had and from year to year there is always a stand out. This year our experience at the Atlantic was our best. Go early and have a cocktail on the lawn, then have dinner and watch the sun go down.
Dined on the veranda at 6 PM. The view was fabulous. The food was outstanding and the service was spot on. The scallops and the duck were our choice and they didn't let us down. Best ever. One of the highlights of our three day visit for a friends son‘s wedding. I highly recommend it.
Be forwarned that the name of this restaurant is not the Atlantic Inn. It is Restaurant 1879 at the Atlantic Inn. More to the point the menu shown in Open Table is not the menu of Restaurant 1879. The menu shown on Open Table shows considerably lower prices than the menu for Resaurant 1879. To see the actual menu, visit the website for Restaurant 1879. That being said, our dinner was excellent in evey aspect and well worth the cost.
A lovely hotel restaurant that has upgraded its menu to delicious standards. The octopus appetizer and the duck were outstanding, unfortunately the service left much to be desired.
We had a wonderful dinner on the porch! Unbeatable view and amazing food! We got the cheese and charcuterie board, the roasted clams, and the half chicken! Everything was delicious! Great service also!
