Annie’s Best Breakfast: A Gem with History and Heart
What a treat this place is! Laurie, our waitress, was a total ray of sunshine—so enthusiastic and genuinely excited about the menu that I couldn’t resist trying everything she suggested. The hot, fresh croissants? Absolute heaven. They practically melted in my mouth. The fresh-squeezed juice was crisp and bright, the egg white Greek omelette was light and full of flavor, and even the coffee was perfection—smooth, rich, not a hint of bitterness.
What makes this spot extra special is its history. Annie, the owner, is named after Annie Moore—the first Irish immigrant to sign the book at Ellis Island. There’s a sense of heritage and pride here that you can feel the moment you walk in.
Between the warm service, delicious food, and a story worth remembering, Annie’s Best Breakfast really does live up to its name. Five stars without question!

Unfriendly staff. Cold food. Don’t go.
Fish sandwich was great! Service was fast. It’s a greasy spoon diner, so don’t expect anything fancy.

Bummer......we stopped by today (Wed) and even though this site says you are open, you were closed. Also our dine out book says valid Tues-Thurs even though you were not open. Please update.
My son and I stopped here for a late lunch while we were visiting the mansions in Newport. Great little restaurant that we found by chance. Great service and food. I had the turkey club and my son had the regular turkey sandwich. He also had the fried ice cream which he said was excellent. They really like to push that dessert for everyone to try. They also make fresh baked pies.

We visited the café today — the food was delicious and the atmosphere was nice. However, the waitress added an iced tea and an apple pie to the bill, which we didn't order, even though she received a generous tip. She ruined the whole impression of the place. It was unpleasant, and honestly, we don't feel like coming back.

Nothing special. Food was slow to come out, clearly had been sitting under warming lights. Coffee is meh. Not worth the wait.

Great food and incredibly affordable considering the wealth and taste of Newport. My cousin and I both enjoyed breakfast later in the day, and everything was cooked and seasoned perfectly. Our only issue with the restaurant was how the main wait staff spoke to our waitress. Our waitress was very sweet but young and the older staff seemed to overcorrect, over explain, and use disrespectful language towards her. While we sat in there, we heard and watched the older staff members accept her being spoken to in a disrespectful way for something extremely minor and used disrespectful language toward the waitress. Just because she is new or young, doesn’t mean you have to be mean! We enjoyed the experience overall, but the service was strange to encounter in such a friendly city.

Horrible experience. Our server had zero concept of customer service. Not sure what her name was but a young girl with braces. First we were seated at the bar, we ordered breakfast, a crabs benedict, a salad and a soup. After patiently waiting for 30 mins while we saw other people around us being served, i inquired how much longer it would take. Her response was all my other tables haven’t been served either with no apology or acknowledgment she simply said it would be 10 more mins. We did not even get the soup or salad. We waited another 20 mins and called her out when every single person who came after us got their food. We said we would leave and she still did not apologise or show any remorse she said “ya thats fine ill cancel your order then”. She was definitely biased against people of colour. I have never encountered such poor customer service and have never left a restaurant in my life

Disgusting. Worst service ever. Roach in food
The fresh, hot coffee was served promptly when we sat at the counter. Try this restaurant for the cozy atmosphere, visit often for the good food, kind service and amazing fresh coffee.
