I spent a wonderful evening at Bar 12 with my parents and my partner, and we had the honor to sit at the bar and be served by Scout. What an amazing bar tender! Not only is she friendly, Scout is very a knowledgeable and skilled bartender. My group was open to cocktails so instead of ordering directly from the menu, we told Scout what we liked and didn’t like and they led each of us toward our perfect cocktail. The drinks were beautifully crafted and delicious. We look forward to visiting Newport again just to grab a drink from Scout!

It was surreal. Aileen gave the best recommendations for anything. Best drinks to order, best places to eat, best show to watch next on Netflix. Definitely go here if you are in town. Drinks are amazing. Also shout out to Scout for great bartending.

Delicious cocktails, friendly staff, and a great vibe - what’s not to love!
I was at this place less than 30 minutes ago with my partner, and never — ever — have we felt so unwelcome at a place as we did today because of the bartender (an adult woman with white hair, blue glasses with white dots).
We arrived, greeted her, and received no greeting back. She never approached our table — instead, from behind the bar, she just said “here’s the menu.” She never brought us plates, napkins, nothing. To place our order, my boyfriend had to go to the bar himself. She brought our drinks without a word and never asked if we needed anything else — and we actually wanted to order food.
The place wasn’t busy at all — there was a table of four girls, another table with one woman, and us. About 10 minutes later, another couple arrived — and she treated them completely differently. She greeted them warmly, went to their table a couple of times, brought them plates, napkins — everything. She also went to the other tables, but never to ours.
Even when it was time to pay, we had to get up, go to the bar, and ask for the check. It was clear we were not to her liking. I truly hope she’s not the owner, because this is not how you treat people.
I felt so uncomfortable that at one point I asked my boyfriend (he’s American and I’m Latina), “Do you think this is because of me? Do you think she’s one of those people who don’t like latinos?” He was also uncomfortable. There was absolutely no reason for her behavior. We were well dressed, smelled good — there was no excuse.
Everything I’m saying can be verified by the owners or manager, as there was a big camera right in front of us.
I’m leaving this review because I would never want anyone else to feel the way we felt here today…….

Its a nice little Newport bar with a speakeasy feel. It is open all weekend and opens at 4 pm on sundays. The catch is that regular meals are only served on Friday and saturday outside of those times its bar snacks only. I got the deviled eggs which were tasty!!

My fiance and I came last month and it was great! It was a perfect spot for us to try unique cocktails and charcuterie boards. The bartender was fab and the ambiance was relaxing.

Classiest downtown Bar. I spent last year grabbing a nice NYC hard cider every other weekend. I have since moved, but its memory is left indelibly in my recesses. Despite the first bartender, the rest of the staff were super customary and provided excellent service. Went out with the intention of picking up a Girl, came back with satisfaction for the service provided. Highly recommended. Not to mention it has my favorite name for a Bar in Newport.
