The food was delicious and well sized however the server today during lunch today has been the worst server I have seen in a very long time. And to be fair if the place was packed I would understand but we were one of three groups here and it took almost an hour to get anything. We were here for 30min before even getting water. The ambiance was nice however her service has ruined this place for me. There is a reason your tips % goes down if you choose to just play on your phone and flirt with the bar tender. Again food is good but the service is not worth it, go to the red parrot if you want amazing service because you not going to get it here.

Everything but the food and price is okay. $20 for TWO tacos is insane. And two mediocre tacos at that.

came here for lunch because I wanted some nachos and fish tacos. this was the perfect spot. the place seems busy all the time, but service is friendly and they are hustling to get you seated and served quickly. we had some nachos and tacos, beer and churros. the fish tacos and catch of the day tacos were great. nacho plate was the bomb. they had plenty of different hot sauces. I will definitely return if ever in the area again.

Twice when we've had the misfortune of being in Newport we've eaten here. Visit number one was ok, but underwhelming. That time we had brunch, and while the service was good the food was pretty uninspired. The second time we had a larger party, so there was more food to try and things were still not great. We got several different salsas to try and they were all bad, frankly; not fresh tasting, not well seasoned. I had some fish tacos which I regretted and left most of them behind. I think if your expectations are very well managed and you understand that this is basically a bar that grew a full kitchen somehow you might be ok. Otherwise, you're going to go in expecting credible Tex Mex food and be sad instead. Get a Bloody Mary and avoid the seafood and you should be ok if you can't get a table anywhere else.

I had the birria tacos and they were amazing a must have. My husband had the barbacoa burrito and was not impressed. The drinks from the bar were also great.

IMO- Diego's is a must visit restaurant in Newport if you like Mexican cuisine with fresh ingredients and unique twists! Tucked in the hub of the shops- with so many neat seating options from heated igloos, to upstairs and downstairs dining as well as bar seating- there is a spot for all! Open for lunch and dinner as well :) Tons of cool specialty cocktails to try but we opted for more typical ones with margaritas and sangria. Next time, we will be more adventurous with the cocktails we pick! However, we did love the ones we got! For food- we started with their special guacamole for the day which added pork belly- YUM-o! And the duck empanadas with duck gravy. I don't typically like empanadas (it's more my husband's thing) but he said I had to try these and I did- so good, so much flavor, a little heat, and the gravy- divine! We also got the fried chicken tacos- so many flavors, balanced well, chicken was juicy, just a real winner! It might sound funny but a place can easily get a taco wrong- Diego's does not and knows how to put equal parts of all the ingredients so you get each with a bite. No small feat! The barbacoa burrito was equally delicious it came with a side of house made lime pickles and a jalapeño puree dipping sauce- both so fresh and such a cool twist to add. Service was wonderful as well- our waiter, Danny, was friendly and let us drink and dine at our leisure. When we are back in Newport, we will be for sure stopping by!
