We only got the lobster roll (and fries), but they were both very good. Best lobster we had while visiting Newport!

Great place to eat,We are visiting the United States and not being used to the customs we did not understand that we had to write the amount of the tip on the bill.Yet we really wanted to leave some!The waiter was super friendly and helpful, we caught up and left him the tip in a note on the table.He didn't chase us like some servers would have done, some people should take note!

Server was very good and attentive with a great personality. Drinks were very good and menu is plentiful of choices for everyone.Food was great. Huge portions and delicious. We got the steak tips and fish n chips.Enjoyed our meals very much!

Burgers were some of the best I've ever had. BBQ sauce was perfection. Fries excellent too. Server did her best in a very busy place due to a conference. Drinks were strong and tasted great.

Honestly usually a solid place but this time they got my beer wrong and tried to convince me it was right??? My bruschetta was soup and soggy bread, my pizza was soaked in balsamic and then when I order a different beer to avoid that incorrect selection, they got it wrong again!!! Not coming back thanks thoI've never written a review inside a restaurant before so this is a first

First time at this great little grille. Had the fish and chips, my wife had the pan baked cod...both excellent. Service was great and both servers were very personable and efficient. Convenient walk from our hotel room and located in a great section of Newport, RI. Will definitely go there again when we come back to visit Newport again.

Yesterday was my 3rd and sadly last visit to this restaurant. Gas Lamp is a small pub in the center of Newport. It is an older pub that is not fancy even perhaps a bit aged. The upside is the servers, while sometimes stretched thin are generally kind and helpful. The downside rests with the kitchen. In each visit I was let down by the food. Their lobster rolls both hot and cold have little lobster which didn't taste very fresh. (This is NO threat to Anthony's for a lobster roll.) Their clam chowder is not your traditional take as it is spiced with cayenne. Great on paper not so much in taste. It is light on clams and overall off putting. Their brazed beef chili tasted more like hamburger in barbecue sauce. A overly sweet concoction that does not work. Their famous fried cod was greasy and served tepid not hot. Their nachos were good but again not much filling. Overall, an okay place to grab a drink, but so many better places nearby to get a better meal.
