Not sure why this place doesn’t have a line out the door. Their breakfast was amazing. Coffee was delicious, and service excellent. The sausage was very juicy, and pancakes were cooked to perfection.

This is a cute little place with great atmosphere and people watching. We'd never gotten Jamaican food before and now we're wondering what took us so long! I don't usually review places but this restaurant really made an impression on me. 10/10 would recommend, and I'm probably going to talk about it all week.

A must-visit for brunch! We tried a stack of the grilled pineapple pancakes, a spinach Bennie, and the mango pineapple smoothie. The pancakes came with a side of guava jam, which complemented the grilled fruit topping perfectly. And the sauce that the Bennie’s spinach was creamed in leveled up the dish with an extra hit of umami and creaminess that made the hollandaise sauce sing and made it the best eggs Benedict I’ve had on the island. Finally, manager and staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming and made us feel at ease eating out with our newborn. The Humming Bird may be a Caribbean restaurant, but they nail the American breakfast and add a tropical twist that makes it a delicious and unique breakfast option in Newport.

Title: Exceptional Jamaican Delights at Humming Bird, NewportReview:I recently had the pleasure of dining at Humming Bird, located at 104 Broadway, Newport, Rhode Island, and it was an unforgettable experience. This gem offers the best tasting authentic Jamaican cuisine that I've ever had.To start, I indulged in their Jamaican Patty, which was the perfect introduction to the flavors of Jamaica. But the real stars of the meal were the jerk chicken and oxtail. Each bite of the jerk chicken was a burst of well-balanced spices and smokiness, while the oxtail was so tender and flavorful that it was, quite literally, to die for.The attention to detail in every dish was evident. The vegetables were fresh and cooked to perfection, the brown rice and beans were a delightful complement to the meats, and the plantains were sweet and caramelized just right. However, I was slightly disappointed that the hummingbird cake, a signature Jamaican dessert that I had suggested a year ago, was still not on the menu. It's such a classic and would be a wonderful addition to their already impressive offerings. This was the only reason I gave Humming Bird a 4 out of 5 rating.Despite this, the overall experience was exceptional. The service was stellar, making me feel welcome and attended to throughout the meal. The decor and design of the restaurant added to the ambiance, perfectly capturing the vibrancy and warmth of Jamaica. In conclusion, Humming Bird is a must-visit for anyone craving authentic Jamaican cuisine. The flavors, atmosphere, and service are outstanding. I am already looking forward to my next visit, and I am hopeful that by then, the hummingbird cake will be a sweet addition to their dessert options.

Happy music greets you for your morning visit. I had the veggies omelet it was delicious, loaded with veggies. The coffee was great. The service is very friendly. Its a pretty cafe, located near the Newport Policestation. They have a large breakfast selection, on weekends and also have dinner all week.

Got dinner to go and was really impressed with the food. Really delicious and well seasoned! Portions were good and we loved the curry chicken and curry shrimp. Looking forward to ordering again and trying new things. The restaurant was also really nice and charming when I went in to pick up the food, will probably dine in next time!

It's not your regular Caribbean please food. It missed the jerk seasoning flavors and seasoning in the food. This must be a fusion of something but not full Caribbean. Overall food was edible and service was good.
