Gave this place a second chance. I was here a couple of years ago and was very underwhelmed. This time I was there with my boyfriend and my adult son. We ordered nachos and they were ok, but very salty and just like the last time I was there, the chips tasted very stale. I got two tacos, sweet potato and fried fish, I took less than a half bite of the sweet potato taco, it was terrible. The fish one was so bad I literally spit the fish out. I will never eat at this restaurant again.
Wow, unexpectedly wonderful night. We ordered appetizers to share, and maybe too much food for dinner but it was all delicious. Cocktails are fun and also yummy. The bill was very nicely priced, and the service was spectacular.
Fabulous food and service. Adrian was just terrific behind the bar. Great value a little bit loud but still it was wonderful.
Exceptional lunch at La Vecina! The nachos are amazing to split and tacos, so flavorful. A great casual yet charming stop for catching up!
This is a great little place, very casual. The food is very good. Location is great. The staff were good. Wish there were more outdoor tables. Prices reasonable for Newport!
We came to celebrate our anniversary and between the food and service, especially our waitress it was an amazing evening. Food and drinks were all delicious, had a great time!
My friend and I loved this place! We each got a delicious cocktail and, thanks to our wonderful server, were able to try both the carnitas and al pastor nachos! The meats were so flavorful, as was everything else loaded on! Definitely recommend!

Not great Mexican to be honest, staff are very friendly and accommodating but there are much better Mexican restaurants.

The food was very good... good portions, fresh and flavorful. Unfortunately our server was inattentive and didn't even offer any dessert just put the check on the table without even looking out saying thank you. We will certainly go back, maybe she was having a bad day ☹️
The tacos were ok. They put lots of lime in everything. Their agua fresca de sandía was watery and unflavorful and small (and $8!). The rice was undercooked. So, a couple misses.

First time at this restaurant and we were very pleased with food and service. We would definitely keep this in mind for our next trip to Newport
Very pleasant overall. The salsa was really different, more like a creamy, spicy sauce and addictively good. The guacamole looked great but was tasteless. Both of our main meals - a rice bowl and a chimichanga- were really good and portions were generous. Service was attentive and the food came out with lightening speed! I would recommend this restaurant. Good Mexican is hard to find in the Northeast and this was overall very good. We would go back
We went for brunch, it was great, we both got the breakfast burrito, very tasty. Good service, a manager checked in with us a couple of times. Brunch is new for them, we really enjoyed it and hope they keep it on Sundays.
Personally, I wouldn’t bother. To cut to the chase, if you want American-Mexican in Newport, I’d go to Diegos (the Middletown location is the best) or Caliente’s if you’re okay with a yummy casual meal.
La Vecina wasn’t it. The salsa is yucky, honestly. It is finely blended with a goopy, slightly viscous texture. It tastes and looks like it belongs on pasta, not tortillas. The elote, however, was pretty good. And the tortillas are obviously fresh and very soft.
The service tho… pretty bad. Our server was nonchalant and mostly acted like we didn’t exist. To be fair, the server in the section opposite ours seemed very nice and professional. The ambience is very trendy. I think that is the main draw of this restaurant. But if you want to really enjoy your meal, look into those other options. Bar Cino right next door is also a safe bet.

Best Mexican food we've had in awhile. Nice and fresh. The fish taco was my favorite and the guacamole was fantastic
