We ate at Stoneacre Brasserie on Aug 8th for dinner. It was our last night in Newport after a lovely week. There was a rehearsal cocktail party going on utilizing one half of the restaurant spilling into the area where we were dining. There appeared to be well over 100 very loud guests and we couldn’t hear each other sitting at a high top for two. The restaurant clearly used poor judgment as they should have been closed for the party. It was not the way we wanted to spend our last night. I felt that our comfort was less important than making as much money as possible!
I will say our server was wonderful and did all she could to please us. The food was tasty as well. If you eat here, ask if they are hosting any parties, first!!

From appetizers, main courses, desserts to cocktails - everything was top notch. We really liked the atmosphere in the restaurant and how the staff treated us. The service was excellent and professional, and our server Tomas had great recommendations for food and drinks. We enjoyed the evening from start to finish. We would definitely come again!

Enjoyed an amazing Sunday brunch! Service is outstanding. Food is beyond; Stoneacre Brasserie is raising the bar on all who serve croque madame. Light and crispy grande slam!

Ordered a steak, medium rare but got it very well done. Service was abysmal and took forever. Food was subpar especially for the prices that you’re paying. Would avoid at all costs, looks better than it actually is.

I always come here when I visit Newport! The food is perfectly decadent - yet “healthy” enough if you need it to be. Ask for a “Dan”-tini (gin w green chartreuse and a lil grapefruit/lemon). I am still dreaming about that perfect burger….

We walked in with no reservation and were welcomed without hesitation. Service was perfect. Couldn’t have had a better experience

We had the salmon, mussels, and sushi. The salmon was cooked perfectly with a crisp sear and a melt in your mouth texture. The mussels were fresh and served in a rich, flavorful broth. The sushi was unexpectedly great, super fresh and beautifully plated. Service was friendly and attentive. We’ll definitely be back.

Why on earth would you accept a reservation for a time when you have no intention of serving food? This wasn’t a walk-in. This was a confirmed booking. Either someone on staff has no idea how the place runs, or the restaurant simply doesn’t care about wasting customers’ time.

I don’t take writing bad reviews lightly, but this level of disregard is unacceptable. I won’t be returning, and I strongly recommend others avoid this place unless you enjoy being turned away from your own reservation.

We made a reservation and then we showed up they said they were closed…

If you are planning on going in for a relaxing dinner an hour before they close, don’t bother. They will jam the food at you well before the closing hour. When they close, they hard close regardless of the number of people that are in there. I hope you are reading this Chris, Bonnie and I have known you for a long time and this is not the way to run a restaurant.

The brunch was delicious! We had the croque monsieur and the bread pudding French toast, and both were excellent! The staff was very friendly and professional as well. The space was great with a French bohemian vibe. Would definitely recommend!

I recently went to celebrate a 30th birthday party upon arrival we had people dropping out due to Unseen circumstances. Which I fully understand things happen having worked in the service industry I understand that can be stressful when a table is already premade . However, once we informed the restaurant we were met with attitude, eyes, rolling, huffing, and puffing By what I assume is the manager? Once seated, we had a prefix menu that was extremely lackluster and parties in our group could not eat Due to allergies. We were caught off guard by a prefix menu and when we asked for a regular menu again, the manager became confrontational. I had never experienced something like this to the point where we had got up and left our reservation. It was a shame because I really liked the ambience, but I have never experienced such rude staff

Hands down the worst dining “experience” we never actually had.

We made a reservation for 16 people. Due to really bad weather in Newport, babysitter cancellations and other unforeseen events 6 people couldn’t make it - not exactly something we could control. We still showed up with 10 people, ready to celebrate a 30th birthday. Instead, we were met with eye rolls, attitude, and the kind of customer service you’d expect at the DMV on a bad day.

They had a table for 16 ready - great! Except they refused to let us sit there. Instead, they made us stand in the middle of the restaurant while they reset a new table for 10, like we had somehow personally offended them by showing up with fewer people.

Once seated, they handed us a prix fixe menu no one had mentioned at the time of booking. Surprise! Not only was it severely limited, but several people in our party had allergies and couldn’t eat anything on it.

To be fair, the waiter was kind and tried to help so shout out to him, the lone bright spot in the entire ordeal. He offered to get us regular menus. But before he could, the manager swooped in to mansplain why a prix fixe menu was “standard for large parties” and nothing could be changed. No empathy. No options. Just condescension.

Then came the cherry on top: they wanted to charge $50 to slice a cake we brought ourselves to celebrate the birthday. $5 a slice… to cut a cake. I’m not kidding.

At that point, we left. Not only were we treated like an inconvenience, but we overheard the manager rolling their eyes and saying they were still going to charge us $25 a person for walking out. Unbelievable.

The kicker? We walked into the restaurant next door without a reservation, were seated immediately, treated with kindness, and had a phenomenal meal. Great food, amazing service, and not a single eye, roll in sight.

This place made us feel like a burden for simply showing up. A 30th birthday celebration ruined by egos, poor communication, and a complete lack of hospitality. Never again.

Not only were we treated like an inconvenience, but we overheard and watched the manager rolling their eyes and saying they were still going to charge us $25 a person for walking out. Unbelievable. This makes sense theyre trying to rip you off any chance possible. As a federal court has ordered the restaurateurs behind Stoneacre Brasserie and Stoneacre Garden in Newport to pay a total of $553,580 in back wages, withheld tips and damages to their employees after all the shady stuff they did before in 2023. The kicker? We walked into the restaurant next door without a reservation, were seated immediately, treated with kindness, and had a phenomenal meal. Great food, amazing service, and not a single eye roll in sight. This place made us feel like a burden for simply showing up. A 30th birthday celebration ruined by egos, poor communication, and a complete lack of hospitality. Never again. I've seen multiple reviews of this place now about the rudeness of staff especially the manager. If you want to be talked down to and mansplained I would definitely go here to eat.
