This place is a quintessential New England harbor town spot. If you get there early enough, before say 10am, you'll find the owner making the cinnamon buns and talking with friends, locals, and fellow merchants who stop in for a morning chat and cup of coffee. It was very cool talking with him and other locals just hanging around. He is very freindly. The cinnamon rolls and breakfast sandwiches were delicious and well priced, especially for the area. There is a nice seating area outside if the weather is nice.

I bought three cookies for $7.50, at least that is what I thought at the time. I paid with a credit card, which the cashier noticed in my hand when I asked the price. However, after checking my account later, the cashier added a convenience fee without any notification. (No wonder she didn’t give me a receipt!) I know many businesses are charging the extra fee for CC usage, but there is usually some notification of the fee. This time there was nothing! That is just terrible customer service! To be fair, the cookies were good. But, I won’t be going back, due to the business’ deceit.

We purchased 3 different cookies oatmeal raisin, peanut butter, & ginger snap. They were all TERRIBLE. I took a bite & threw mine out. It's harsh but I have no idea how this place has been in business so long. Beyond disappointing

Tiny shop with outdoor patio. Being an avid baker, I know a good cookie from one that is made in a factory, frozen and baked in an oven. These cookies are so pathetic. Do not be lured by the sweet smells. Cinnamon rolls dry like toast.

Excellent place, they have amazing cookies. The staff are super friendly, they keep the line moving, and they do an excellent job.
I highly recommend checking this place out.

Cute little place, cookie are just ok but got questioned from owner about sitting at their table when we clearly had wrappers from purchasing cookies.

All the cookies looked over cooked so we got a shortbread to try. Basically, no flavor at all.

Not sure about the texture of the cookies....the cookies are very light weighted too. We got the peanut butter ones and can't really taste the peanut butter. Definitely not worth it for how much they charge for them for 😅

Don't let the smell fool you. These smell great, but they are hard, not very tasteful, and for sure not worth the price. Pass this place up.

It looked like a place where they would have mouth watering cookies, but the cookies were not good and wouldn’t buy again……

I’m from Newport and been going to the Cookie Jar for a bag of cookies for decades now so after a long absence of returning home I had to bring my wife and kids to the Cookie Jar because well it’s a Newport thing!! It didn’t disappoint and the oatmeal butterscotch are still my favorite but all are good and taste the same as they always have, I just can’t eat a whole bag like I used to. I was glad it was still there!! I didn’t take any pics of the cookies we ate them too fast!!
