The Fastnet Pub is a solid low key spot if you are looking for a relaxed place to eat and drink without any fuss. The space is a decent size so it never feels too cramped and street parking is usually manageable if you are patient.
The drink selection is a strong point especially if you like IPAs. The bar has a good variety and it is easy to find something you enjoy. Prices are reasonable which makes it an easy place to settle in for more than one round.
Food wise the chicken sandwich was the clear winner and easily the best thing on the table. It was filling flavorful and felt like the safest and smartest choice on the menu. Everything else was fine but that sandwich is what I would order again without hesitation.
The staff were friendly and welcoming which always makes a difference. One thing to be aware of is that you have to close out your tab when there is a shift change which can catch you off guard if you are not expecting it.
Overall The Fastnet Pub is a good neighborhood pub with solid drinks friendly service and fair prices. Just keep an eye on the clock if you are running a tab and order the chicken sandwich.

Bartender was extremely rude to us for no apparent reason. There were hardly any customers and he had some comments to say about us taking a bit longer to figure out what we wanted. I would never go back here again.

In town for a wedding and stopped for a beer around lunch time. Bartender was dismissive and seemed to be more interested in talking with his girlfriend than attending to customers. Would recommend brick alley, pour judgment or tavern on Broadway over this place. $11 for 1 beer and not even bare minimum customer service is insane

Ordered a Guinness at the bar… the bartender proceeded to pour about half a glass worth, scoff and then walk off without saying anything. How hard can it be for an Irish establishment to serve a glass of Guinness? What an absolute loser.
This bar doesn’t give you WATER for free. They charge ya $2 a bottle. How cool!!

Bouncer screamed at us because he wasn’t in his position and we walked into the bar. We have never been screamed at like that. We turned around and walked right out. We are obviously over 21. Three women should never be screamed at like that for doing nothing.

Really Disappointed. We have been here many times but hadn’t gone in for about 6 months. We used to love the burgers with the steak fries and the chicken tenders and fries with the curry sauce. I should have known something was off when I saw the menus had changed and everything was different. Should have left then. What used to be a half pound juicy burger was a slider. Shoestring fries instead of the nice big steak ones. Chicken totally different and much more salty along with the curry sauce being way too salty as well. Service as if you are a burden and you are lucky enough to get waited on at all. Made me depressed honestly. A once comfort food and good craic place I will be avoiding in the future.

It’s an Irish bar. Great location, and kind of one of those quintessential Newport bars.

That stole a dollar tip after I put no tip on the receipt. It’s not the fact that it’s a dollar it’s the fact that they took someone that didn’t belong to them and just imagine how many other people they’re doing it to that just simply let it slide because it’s a dollar. A dollar adds up

Nice outdoor patio. Service was iffy. I overheard some people saying there was a $20 minimum, but thankfully that wasn’t an issue for me.

I end up here with boozy friends every time I visit Newport, and it never fails to disappoint. Menu is uninspired and poorly executed, service is reluctant at best. The space itself is nice, particularly the patio, but I always leave fearing someone has pilfered my card. Best I can say about it is that they have Save the Robots on tap, which will trick you into an intoxicated state far more intense than you intended.
