My sister and I found The Hungry Monkey when the place we were originally heading to had a long wait - this was a MUCH better choice. The staff were very accommodating. The atmosphere was fun and relaxing - and the food was great. They even had the Portuguese Sweet Bread French Toast and Bolo's - and it was one of the cheapest meals we had all weekend. Overall - this was our favorite dining spot of the entire weekend! If I was a local, I'd be eating there every weekend! Will definitely return on our next trip!

Travellers, the hungry monkey is a fine breakfast/lunch restaurant in downtown Newport. The restaurant is very cute and the service is with a smile. The eggs Benedict were excellent as were the eggs Benedict florentine with spinach and tomatoes. The veggie omelet was delicious as are all the omelets here. The grits left something to be desired. They missed the mark. And the home fries were cold. But check it out. We recommend

With so many incredible choices in the area, I won't waste my time here again. The lady behind the counter was rude, clearly having a bad bad Monday (lady, don't take it out on the customer). Nothing worse than subpar food with an attitude for no reason.
Do not recommend the waffles nor the pancakes - gorilla.

Yum yum yum. A local suggested this and we had a lovely walk to it and a great meal. Everything was delicious - eggs Benedict and omelettes alike - and the corned beef was to die for. We found out homemade in the back by the mother!! And the French toast oh my. Our service was friendly warm and familiar feeling - like we belonged! So glad we discovered this gem and will be back every time we’re in town.

First time here ,
I ordered the veggie omelet which was excellent. My husband ordered the Gorilla, his eggs were cooked perfect .Everything was delicious except for the french toast. The bread they used tasted stale and had a weird texture. That was the only reason I gave them 4stars.

I ordered an egg and cheese sandwich with gluten-free bread. I didn't like it very much. The cheese tasted weird. My husband ordered eggs and bacon and liked them, so I may have gotten my order wrong.
Nice atmosphere.

It came highly recommended and we're BRUNCH PEOPLE so we were excited. Everything thing seemingly going well until the food arrived and the first thing my daughter noticed was a hair in her potatoes. Hoping she was mistaken, two others looked and confirmed it was a hair. Trying to keep the good vibes going, we all looked through our food, didn't see anything else suspicious, prayed and began to eat. If you dine out enough, you understand things can happen. But apparently, don't ask the server for straws. Several of us did, but not all at once. She became IRATE and threw about a dozen more straws than asked for on our table. BEYOND RUDE. My husband politely took them to the counter telling her we don't need all these.
That act of civility seemed to have brought her temperature down and she was normal for the rest of our meal. But the fact that asking for straws puts you over the edge was highly unnecessary. No one wants angry people serving their food. No trust in that relationship. Therefore, we will never go back.
As we were leaving, we watched another couple come in and sit there for a while apparently not be pleased and leave.

Super cute and cozy place. Food came warm and was delicious! The omelette was pretty big and even after eating hours ago, I am still full! Can’t wait to go back again! I recommend the Chili and cheese omelette!
