We hosted a surprise engagement dinner here yesterday with a reservation for over 20 guests, made well in advance by sister’s fiancé. This was a once in a lifetime event, and the management at Lobster Bar completely soured what should’ve been a joyful night for us. From the moment we arrived, we were met with hostility. We were literally still congratulating the newly engaged couple when the manager Jen came over within minutes to tell us all we needed to move over because we were standing too close to another table. Some of us were still greeting eachother and settling. She showed no patience, empathy, or warmth, and then walked away talking poorly about us. She also stood beside us staring with her arms crossed because we wanted to take a few photos by the sunset away from our table. Completely uncomfortable and hostile. I truly did not see the woman smile once the entire night. She did not ask us how everything was, she did not help us with anything whatsoever. It seemed like she was trying to ruin our night completely but we didn’t allow it to happen. The waitress assigned to us was kind and tried her best, but severely overworked and was not prioritizing us. We were the largest party in the entire restaurant. There were long stretches with no service, no clearing of plates, and multiple guests had to go to the bar themselves to get drinks, at our own engagement dinner. We should’ve had 2 waitresses or she should not have had other tables. We were constantly looking for where she was. Our food was decent. The manager also made a huge deal to me about us having a cake (despite us seeing multiple other tables having outside cakes with candles). She reluctantly lit it but made it clear we had to cut and serve it ourselves. It felt targeted and unnecessarily difficult, especially given the already sour taste in our mouths. We were told last-minute that a private party was starting at 10pm — which was never communicated during booking or the in-person visit my mother made a week prior. At 10:10, with half our party already gone, some older members in our group started dancing and were told to get off the dance floor by the same miserable manager that had been nagging at us all night. It was humiliating and unnecessary while people are sharing such a special, joyful night. The table setup was also horrible — long, narrow, and not suited for a large gathering where people would want to mingle, talk and celebrate. In total, we spent over $1,500 not including tip — plus much more at the bar, and were made to feel like an inconvenience from start to finish. We’ll never return, and I would strongly advise against planning any kind of celebration at this establishment. Extremely disappointed. Beautiful views, decent food — disgusting energy.

Several plates were sent back. Under or WAY too salty! A drink was dumped on my 6 year old niece by a staff member. But our waitress was extremely nice. Won’t be going back.

While the restaurant itself is pretty, everything else is awful. I had a 7PM reservation and waited until almost 7:30PM to be seated. Me and my friends ordered sangria which tasted & looked like lemon Gatorade. The food was worse - one of worst meal I've ever had. The lobster mac & cheese was $40 and watery with zero flavor. To make matters worse, our waitress barely came to our table and when she did, she was very rude and acted as though we were an inconvenience.

I would recommend not coming on a busy night. Food was okay wasn’t too bad. We came to this restaurant after a very long day hoping to relax have a good meal and some quality family time. As soon as we walked in I felt like we were very unwelcomed. (Although the blond hostess was veryyyyy nice) Our server wasn’t always around and she didn’t look like she was busy didn’t come check up on us and had a small attitude. I am personally a server as well and I wouldn’t treat my costumers like that, I never ever leave no tip because I know that I wouldn’t like that either however I left what I felt she deserved and when I handed back the machine she walked away and I heard her whisper under breath annoyed at what I left her. It is what it is I guess. I won’t be coming back on our next Newport trip.

This was our first time coming here to eat.
The service was magnificent, and the food was delicious! The price is definitely reasonable for the meal, I would say it was between $35-$40 per person for a good portion of fresh lobster. They have lots of different appetizers and dish options as well. We came before the lunch rush and got a really good spot right by the water. Our waitress was attentive and kept our drinks refreshed. The food came out quickly and overall the service was very good.
I highly recommend The Lobster Bar for your next meal! 🍽️

Called in October to reserve for New Years Eve. We are from out of state so I wanted everything ready. They originally said not open NYE, but then said yes and took my info. I confirmed after and we were still good. Called week before and had to leave message to make sure again since time was closer. Called countless times and left messages
Not 1 single call back. Day of, I get text confirming wrong time but for correct day being NYE. I went and they were closed. Called New Years day, no answer again. I couldn't have been more organized. It was an important day for my family, and we traveled 2 1/2 hours to get here. This was aweful and embarrassing that I had family come out and no dinner.

I went to Newport with my friends and when we got our food my friend found a long piece of hair in her burger and when we asked for a new one our waitress gave us attitude, after insisting she got the new burger. I have worked in Newport for 7 years and if anything happened like that we would have taken not charged for it or given them something in return to keep the customer happy. I know restaurants are different but she didn’t apologize for anything and was very rude about it. When it was time to pay, we separated the bill as we where a group of friends. she pointed to everyone and said you tipped, you didn’t, you only tipped a dollar, and then pointed at me and said why didn’t you tip, indirectly asking me for a tip. If she had waited then she would have seen that I would have left money on the table. She was the worst waitress I have ever had. She barely came over to us and forgot a bunch of things that we ordered. She was sitting about two tables over just sitting on her phone. If I could do zero stars for serve I would and I am sure other servers are different but this one was very bad. I did however like the set up. It was a very nice place but the service was very bad.

Our order included a lobster pizza, and I find it hard to believe that they could charge $32 for such a low-quality item. It may be nearly 8-10 inches with a few pieces of lobster and corn added. How can you market such a thing? Is that a pizza, indeed? Please reconsider and don't trick folks into placing that order. In what way is it pizza? That pizza is unlike anything I have ever seen. We paid $20 for parking too and you guys don’t even validate it? Very disappointed!

A friend and I went to this bar over the weekend. Our server was particularly rude and seemed irritated when we asked questions about the menu, or in fact for anything. The food was then okay - lobster was fine but the brioche buns were clearly shop bought, cheap and dry. We decided to tip under 20% due to poor service and underwhelming food, which is very unusual for me. Our server interrupted mid transaction and told us we’d under tipped and told us we needed to give 20% - we were embarrassed so we did, but we honestly believe we were tipping the experience we’d had. Would not recommend.

This place is a beautiful restaurant. The food and service were horrible. I started with a bowl of the seafood chowder. The waitress didn’t even know that it was on the menu. It was fishy and flavorless. My family were excited to have a lobster roll here! The hot lobster roll was $48!!! The cold lobster roll was $38. We decided on the cold lobster roll. The waitress forgot to put in my order and the rest of my family was having their lunches. The bun wasn’t buttered or grilled. It had so much bread and lettuce. It was the worst lobster roll I’ve had. We will definitely not come back,
