One of our local spots. Great pub vibe, good food and raw bar. Perfect spot for a few pints with your crew.

We have eaten and drank here many times when in Newport. This evening the service was horrible we had to ask to order drinks, then again to order food and then finally to get the check. I left a 5 dollar tip on 66. Dollars and I left a half pizza which if we had waited to be asked to get that boxed it would be breakfast time.

We’ve enjoyed our meals here but find it’s a little hit or miss. We think we just haven’t nailed the perfect time to visit and dream about the Bloody Mary at brunch experience so we will be back! All the staff are friendly! Love them.

Definitely a relaxed area and everyone is very friendly. Food was definitely what you expect from a bar, so unless you are drinking, it may not be the best place to go for a quick bite.

Second time here. Came initially due to a post I saw on a bloody mary group I am part of on Facebook. Not often do you see local posts so I went right now. Ordered a bloody mary and it was plain and nothing like the post I saw. Now this was a few years ago.
Back in Newport again, I google this place and a picture of the bloody mary I saw on FB pops up, The Sebastian Bloody! I tell the waitress I want one loaded and she starts telling me all the stuff they don't have such as SHRIMP! (On a Friday night, the day before a seafood festival in Newport) She also told me the shrimp went bad, ew. Anyway I showed her the picture with the lobster claw and said that's fine as long as it has the lobster claw. She told me they have never had this? Anyway whatever. I'll drink water. My mom orders a Riesling, nope don't have any! I'm not a wine drinker but I'd imagine this should be a popular one to have. Mom gets some other wine, wife got a sangria. She said the Sangria wasn't very good.

Food was decent. I got the ribs, came with corn and potato salad (I thought it was mashed potatoes so was a suprize on the first bite). One of my corn was nice and hot, the other was cold. Ribs weren't bad, my son had some and loved it.

Overall I doubt I'll be back with the other great options in the area.

Go for: Stylish, cozy, and quirky gastropub with great beer selection, seafood, and typical pub fare.

Avoid if: You're looking for a quiet restaurant with no TV screens.

Something surprising: While the space is renovated, the building is historic and over 200 years old.

Reservation needed? Recommended, if going around normal meal times.

Overall . Friendly service, delicious food, and an atmosphere that makes tourists feel like locals - definitely deserving of repeat visits. If the parking situation on the weekends were better, that would really help bring in the customers.

The Tavern was so much fun. Shelley was excellent and service was spot on! We were there on a Wednesday for "buck a shuck" and we were not disappointed! Will definitely be back!

Typical American pub, where you eat burgers and chips and watch the match or chat with friends. Unfortunately the place is very noisy or I was unlucky and found the evening of "caciaroni". The food is good and the service ok, a place to also eat the typical local soups with clams or lobster.
