The Dining Room at The Vanderbilt

If you go to Newport at some point you must eat here.
Not only was my food delicious, my cocktail the paper tiger was one of my five to cocktails, anywhere, ever! This is nice quiet spot for couples or small get togethers. Loved the Christmas decorations.

The venue is exquisite. Our server Marcello was wonderful and very knowledgeable. He made the experience that much better. Dinner was incredible as were the cocktails (shout out to Zach for an amazing Manhattan and Kir Royal). My husband completely enjoyed the duck, which was cooked to perfection, and I enjoyed the lobster fricassee. My husband was thrilled to have the sticky toffee pudding for dessert while I had the best flourless chocolate cake - melt in your mouth!

What a beautiful setting to get brunch Service, and food were great and now I want to come back to stay a night at the hotel and get dinner

We ate breakfast on Christmas morniing at The Dining room at the Vanderbilt Everything was delicious. Eggs benedict cooked to perfection Service was very good.

Menu was very limited. It was good but not as special as I expected. One person in my party found the dark walls and ceiling oppressive while another liked it.

Very cozy and delicious winter experience where the staff is so gracious and the food is always a treat.

Just had one of the best Thanksgiving meals ever. Fantastic food, creative, tasty, perfectly prepared & served, visually appealing. Every member of the restaurant team was stellar in all aspects; especially during an all day, continuous flow of hungry families. One of the standouts was our main server, Tiffany. The atmosphere, decor, and comfortable rustic ambiance added to this world-class dining experience.

Beautiful older building, really nice details inside. Service was slow at first, but once they started waiting on us, it was good for the rest of the evening. Food was good and enjoyable, but not amazing.

The dining room at Vanderbilt is one of the most elegant dining spaces in Newport. HOWEVER, everything which flows within this space is a HUGE disappointment. One exception - so let's start with the good.. the cocktails were perfectly prepared and clams on the half shell were exceptional. They may be the only reasons we'd ever return to the Dining Room. So on to the rest. Our server tho well intended was inexperienced and not properly trained for service in a local diner far less a fine dining restuarant. She's not to be blamed - management has the responsibility to ensure she has the tools to meet standards of fine dining. This is not our first time finding this at this place. We returned after a long hiatus between visits b/c of past disappointments. Restuarant Week seemed the perfect time to do so. Other participants in this WEEK published their special menu for the occasion; not so here. It was a mystery until arrival and I now understand why. They offered few choices in each course. And by further demonstration of their disdain or disrespect for their guests, the choices served were scaled down in size and/or content. Fellow restuarant participants chose to offer their best with pride and confidence that doing so will bring guests back - one of the objectives of RESTUARANT WEEK. Vanderbilt's decisions will not bring us back for further disappointment- too bad b/c it's such a lovely space that if they did their job, it would be a venue we'd frequent happily.

Everything about this restaurant is perfect. Atmosphere is sooooo romantic. Great vibe! The food was amazing and the waitress was beyond sweet! Fabulous drink menu. Get the pistachio bourbon drink. You must go!!

We sat at the bar and had a very good meal with the bartender who was excellent. Most enjoyable.

If you spend the time to put in a reservation, The Dining Room at Vanderbilt will make sure your dinner and night are in good hands. With cozy seating throughout the historic building and world class service, you will feel that you are in a fantasy. The cuisine is the real deal. Every choice will be sure to deliver an amazingly flavorful experience. Highly Recommend.
